Kanto Freestyle: Now in Greenhills!

Breakfast has never looked this good!

Kanto Freestyle Breakfast opens a new branch along Annapolis Street, Greenhills, called Kanto Freestyle 65°. Compared to their other branches, Kanto Freestyle 65° is all about sous vide and the "perfect egg" - slowly cooked at 65 degrees celsius, showing that kanto food isn't only affordable, but can be fancy and delicious too! I swear, everything I tried here tasted great - from the crowd favorites (Roast Beef Pares, Honey Garlic Chicken, Beef Tapa) down to the desserts (damn that Fried Suman with Mango Panna Cotta is something else)!
The store even has a barista that can make cafe drinks for you - I, of course, went with my usual flat white. Sobrang sulit for Php 95!!

Pandesal with Liver Pate, Garlic Confit and Pesto (P95)
Staying true to the Filipino way, Kanto 65 substituted melba toast with freshly baked pandesal and served us the usual spreads that go with it. I like how they turned a fancy appetizer into something you can easily imagine serving at home, but this one can be pretty filling so try not to eat more than one piece if you're planning to order more dishes.

Chocnut Champorado (P135)
This thick chocolatey rice porridge is something I used to eat a lot growing up. Kanto 65 leveled it up with espada and of course, everyone's favorite local chocolate brand, Chocnut. This is definitely not something you see in normal eateries, maybe not even in hotels. I mean, what great presentation, right?!

New Zealand Beef Tapa (P170)

The moment I saw the tapa, I knew it was going to be one of my favorites. Just by looking at it, you know it's going to be juicy and flavorful - and guess what? It was! And that 65-degree egg. Grabeee. It reminded me of Jollibee's Beef Tapa but with less fat and more real meat. Personally, I love eating tapa with vinegar, so I'm glad they served this with some.

P.S. Don't worry if you prefer your egg cooked differently as Kanto 65 can adjust it to your liking. ;)

Pusit, Danggit, Espada, at Dilis (P160)
All your salty, crunchy favorites in one plate!

Pulled Pork Adobo Flakes (P175)
If pork is more your thing, you'll definitely like this one. It's one of the more popular silogs here at Kanto 65. By the way, all their silogs can be served with Sagada red rice, garlic rice, or plain rice. Just let the server know your preference.

Roast Beef Pares (P180)
Oh my gosh, I swear, this dish will change your life. This is the most expensive item on the menu at Php 180, which, let's be honest, isn't bad AT ALL. I absolutely loved this Roast Beef Pares and hated the fact that I had to share it with so many people, because that meant having only a few bites of it! Haha!

For this visit, we took photos of every single dish before we started eating (so just imagine how long that took). The food was already cold - this pares included - yet when it was time to eat, the meat remained tender. Probably because it was sous vide? It was also extremely flavorful and very hard to eat without rice (so if you're on a diet, good luck haha) But seriously, if there's one dish you have to try at Kanto 65, this is the one.

Kanto Longaniza Scotch Egg (P170)
Longsilog with a twist! Instead of eating your longaniza and egg separately, try eating them together here at Kanto 65! I didn't appreciate this as much the first time around, but when I came back and tried it again, I fell in love. The crunchy outer layer together with the longaniza filling and beautifully cooked egg made such a wonderful combination in my mouth. Don't forget the vinegar!

Honey Garlic Chicken (P150)
Honey Garlic Chicken is one of the most sought after and highly loved dish at Kanto. I mean, we Filipinos are really all about the meat, so I'm not surprised as to why this is in such demand. The flavor isn't too overpowering, it has just the right amount of sweetness to it.

Sitaw and Kangkong with Hashbrown Poached Egg (P150)
with pesto tomato and hollandaise

This is definitely not something you can find in other restaurants. I guess you could say this is one of their more unique dishes, though they really made sure to put a twist in everything naman. I honestly didn't expect much from this, but they have really good hashbrowns ha. More people should try this out.

Housemade Baked Beans (P140)
topped with cumin cream and and puri bread
Another healthy-ish dish you might want to try if you're looking for something different.

And finally, my most recent discovery, their Quesong Kalabaw Fritters with Honey and Wilted Greens (P160)

You wouldn't think of putting all these together, but Kanto did and they executed it really well. Actually when you think about it, most of the dishes they serve can be done at home, but it's really how you execute it that makes all the difference. I commend the owners and their chefs for their creativity and the fact that they keep prices low even though they can definitely sell these for higher. Their goal is really to make people happy through their food.

For dessert, I recommend the following: Fried Suman with Mango Panna Cotta, Deep Fried Oreos (a long time favorite), and Brazo de Calamansi. P.S. They also serve the childhood favorite Ice Scramble for Php 70.

P.S. Just wanted to add that there's nothing over Php 200 on their menu. Tim was so happy to discover this when we dined here a few days ago. He couldn't believe how a restaurant like this could have such low prices despite the quality of the food (I couldn't stop raving about it kasi). All doubts disappeared when they served the food. Haha :P Will definitely come back!!!
Kanto Freestyle 6 is located at the ground floor of Continental Court Condominium, Annapolis Street, Greenhills, San Juan City.  Open 24 hours.
