Dream Day Friday - Week 5

For this week, I’m listing down the beautiful Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II.

image

I’ve been wanting one for about four years now, but I’m the type of person who seldom spends thousands on a single item, so you’d understand why I haven’t gotten to buying this yet. It sells for more or less $100 on Amazon (I’m a cheapskate, I know). It wouldn’t hurt to get a new camera too *coughcough* - hopefully an upgrade to my Canon EOS 400D. They already have 650Ds now, so mine is, what, five models old? :P It still works though. Aside from having the kit lens replaced two years ago, everything else is fine. :)

Out of the 6 posts I’ve done for DDF so far, this would probably be the one that would make me the happiest. So, to my friends reading this, I trust you’ll make my parents aware of this, yes? Okay. Thank youuu :) haha

Sunsets and Hope

image

Posting this photo I captured on our way back to our rooms during our two-day trip at Sabang Beach. Sorry I wasn’t able to post photos while I was there ‘cause I couldn’t find a decent wi-fi connection. Wasn’t this worth the wait though?:) The moment I saw how beautiful the sky looked, I ran to find a better view! What luck, right? It’s not every day that you see the sky this majestic! A man who saw me taking photos told me that during his years of living at Sabang Beach, he has never seen anything remotely close to this.

I know there are amazing photos of sunsets and beaches all over the web, but it’s different when you actually see something like this in person. It gives you hope - so much hope for the world, for humankind, and especially for yourself. It’ll make you feel like a lot of the things you’re worrying about right now, are not actually worth worrying about at all. :)

Let go of the little things. Stop worrying and start living your life :)

Going to the beach tomorrow. Woot, beach trip on a weekday! :) Hoping it will be as lovely as this one. I’ll try to post photos while I’m there. xo

Pink and Gold

2

A photo of my current favorite watch. I bought this in BKK last January 2013. I know a lot of online stores have been selling mustache watches too, but their prices are double/triple the prices in Bangkok. It’s unfortunate, but that’s just how the world works, I guess. I’d rather wait for the chance to revisit Thailand and buy more of the pretty things for myself soon :P

Dream Day Friday - Week 4

I’m someone who enjoys reading books regularly. I can’t really say I have a huge shelf full of them, especially since e-books have become free to download over the world wide web. However, from time to time, I still buy them at Fully Booked, National Book Store or Power Books. There’s just something about holding, smelling and flipping pages that gets to me, unfortunately, my finances won’t allow me to grab just any book I want.

Sometimes, when I finish reading a book on my phone, I have the extreme urge to purchase a hard copy. I don’t know. There are just some books that will touch you in some way that you’ll want to have your own copy to treasure forever. For example:

1. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - This made me cry and inspired me in so many ways :)

image

2. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini - I read this over a year ago and I still remember it clearly. This book is really sad. I know a lot of students in the US are also asked to read this for class. It’s a great read; the movie was amazing, too.

image

3. Looking for Alaska (also) by John Green - I read this about a month before reading The Kite Runner. It’s a book with a great story, shocking twist, and humor as well.

image

John Green wrote two out of the three books I’m sharing today. The book I’m currently reading, Will Grayson, Will Grayson is a novel by, again, John Green and David Levithan (who also wrote Every Day - the book I finished reading last week).

I guess we can probably say I’m officially a fan of these two authors? Haha:) Hoping to be able to read more than 15 books this year (that’s my record from 2011).

Anyone have suggestions of books I can add to my list? :)

Throwback Thursday

Here’s one for #TBT (my very first!!) - from last month, when my nails accidentally ended up having the same color scheme as my phone case. Haha :P

Not much of a throwback, I know. I just wanted to post this ‘cause my nails look super nice here. :)

A Geeky Birthday at The Mind Museum!

image

image

It was Mike’s birthday yesterday and we celebrated by finally visiting The Mind Museum in Taguig! My boyfriend’s kind of a geek, so he was really excited about this (we’ve been thinking about going for a while now, but Taguig’s a bit far from where we live, so yeah)!
The Mind Museum is the first science museum of its scale and scope in the Philippines. New York Times science writer Natalie Angier wrote in her book, The Canon, that science literacy is the currency of this age and of that to come.

The Mind Museum would like to help give the next generation of Filipinos this currency of mind. While The Mind Museum is not a substitute for schools, we would like to help breed scientific literacy that will help everyone, whoever you are and whatever you are doing in life, to be inspired to understand nature.
There are five main galleries - Atom, Life, Earth, Universe and Technology! My favorite would probably the Atom Gallery, because that’s where the Static Ball and Shadow Box are located. Seriously, we were like little kids, getting all giddy trying out the different interactive exhibits! We weren’t able to take lots of pictures though, because my camera’s still broken. But I do have some on my phone, like the ones above. I’m still thinking if I should post my photo from the Static Ball, because it’s funny and embarrassing at the same time. Sayang rin we weren’t able to take pictures of our epic shadow poses. Meh. Must remember to bring a more reliable camera on our next visit.

Anyway, just a quick post on what happened yesterday. Will try to be less lazy when it comes to posting next time.

Dirty Ice Cream

image

Your regular dirty ice cream from down the street. No, this ice cream is not actually dirty, people just call it that because they’re sold by street vendors and not in stores/stalls like other ice cream. Perfect for days like today! :)

Happy Mother's Day!

image

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms out there - especially to mine! Thank you for filling my life with so much love! I know it hasn’t been easy having me as a daughter - I’m not exactly an example of a perfect child. I’ve given you so much headaches and heartbreaks in my 24 years of existence (and probably more in the future), but I promise to become a better and more loving daughter in the days, months and years to come. Thank you for standing beside me through the ups and downs, for always believing in me and supporting me in everything that I do. May we continue to have good (mostly silly) days like these - to more laughs and crazy moments! I love you!

You’re probably not going to see this today (or anytime in the near future since you’ve probably forgotten about my blog already), but I hope you know that I love you always and always! :)

The Perfect Owl Necklace

I’ve been searching for the perfect owl necklace for quite some time now. Can you imagine my excitement when I found it in Forever 21?? :) They have tons of different looking owls you can choose from. I picked this one, because it’s simple and can be worn with pretty much anything.

The first time I wore it though, I used it as bracelet by wrapping the chain around my wrist!:) Cute, right?

… Had a hard time taking it off when I got home though. lol.

A Little Obsessed

image

Being an obsessive-compulsive with this whole washi tape shiz, I don’t know why. I kept snip-snapping that I ended up wasting a whole lot yesterday. I guess it’s fine though, since I have a feeling this new hobby of mine isn’t going to last very long. Don’t get me wrong, washi tapes are awesome - I just lack the creativity skills. Haha :)

Found a set of really thin (6mm) washi tape yesterday. Pretty excited to use them!
Will post photos soon :)

Autumn Boy

Starting May with this :)

A child walking alone in a park in Japan. There’s just something about him and the Autumn leaves that makes me love this photo so much.
