Sometime last year, Shabu-Shabu Ichiban opened its doors at Circuit Lane, Makati. Hmm, you're probably thinking, "there are already a lot of shabu-shabu places here in Manila, who needs another one??" Let me list them all down for you: Konbu (Seaweed), Ginger, Vegetable, Plum Vegetable, Tomato, Tonkotsu, Tonkotsu Soy, Shoyu, Soy Milk, Soy Milk Sesame, Spicy Soy Milk, Soy Bean with Healthy Spice, Spicy Miso, Spicy Miso Butter, Spicy Miso Kimchi, Taiwan Ramen, Miso Taiwan Ramen, Spicy Healthy Spice, Kimchi, Tantan, Spicy Szechuan, Red Hot Szechuan, Curry, and Basil Cream.
The best part is, you and your friends don't have to fight over your soup base preferences since Shabu-Shabu Ichiban offers both communal and individual hot pots! Shabu-Shabu Ichiban gives you three meal sets to choose from. For Php 488 (weekday lunch) or Php 588 (weekday dinner), you can get an unlimited serving of the following: Beef Short Plate, Boston Butt (Pork Shoulder), Chicken Leg Quarter, Chicken and Pork Dumplings, Chinese Cabbage Kimchi, Vegetable Platter, Raw Egg, Udon, Japanese Rice, and Drinks!
But it doesn't stop there, it also comes with one serving of Fried Ice Cream, Kushikatsu (Deep-Fried Skewered Meat), or Japanese-Style Fried Chicken Wings per person! For weekends and holidays, rate is at Php 688.

For me, it's when there's a great flow in the conversation and you don't want to miss anything by standing up to get some food. It's not a buffet type of shabu-shabu, so all you have to do is let the staff know what you want more of, and they'll bring it to you. Simple as that. It makes it so much more convenient plus it helps lessen waste since diners actually only order stuff they plan on eating (versus getting piles and piles of food they will never finish from the buffet)
