Meet Fresh Opens in Manila

From Taiwan to the Philippines.. but it's not what you're thinking! Meet Fresh is not just another milk tea place, because they're also known for their tasty taro balls, refreshing herbal jelly, and so much more!

Just last week, Meet Fresh officially opened its doors at the 5th floor of The Podium Mall in Ortigas.
Here, products are always 'Freshly made, cooked and served' to the point that they actually throw away ingredients after just a few hours to ensure that they only bring the best and the healthiest desserts to its customers.

“Meet Fresh” was founded by a traditional agricultural farming family in the City of Taichung (central part of Taiwan). Its two masters, Mr. and Mrs. Fu (the eldest of the Fu family), were raised in an age where society in Taiwan was changing rapidly due to technology improvements and automation. But they still believed in making desserts the old-fashioned way to preserve the unforgettable natural sweetness of the traditional taste. Meet Fresh was established to fulfill the Fu’s deepest desire to share their handmade, freshly prepared wholesome tastes with everyone. They were persistent as to how they made their desserts, with the principal value that each dessert has to be handmade with the freshest natural ingredients and with no added preservatives.

Here are some of the items I got to try from their menu:

Fluffy Herbal Tea with Grass Jelly
The drink I ordered is the Fluffy Herbal Tea with Grass Jelly which is a light and not-so-sweet drink. If you're a fan of grass jelly, you'll for sure like this. It reminds me of my mom's homemade gulaman, but with the added fluff. So yes, Meet Fresh is definitely more than just milk tea. They also have Herbal Tea, Fresh Milk Tea, and Wintermelon Tea.

Peanut and Sesame Mochi
It's not all that easy to find mochi by-the-piece in Manila, so I'm glad that they have it here. Get it in either peanut or sesame (I love the peanut, but some prefer the sesame). I'd recommend getting one each to share.. and make sure to have a glass of water ready because these babies are really chewy!

Q Mochi Milk & Pudding Shaved Ice
Since I love pudding (I actually like it more than pearls), I went and ordered the Q Mochi Milk & Pudding Shaved Ice. They also have the Taro Milk Shaved Ice, Red Bean Milk Shaved Ice, plain Q Mochi Milk Shaved Ice.. but if you want everything in it, the 8 Treasures Shaved Ice (with mung bean, sweet potato, barley, red bean, peanuts, kidney bean, melon jelly, and sweet potato balls) is the way to go. Prices range from Php 250-320.. I know, I know, it sounds expensive, but it's totally worth it! Each order is good for 2-3 persons, which is kind of what Meet Fresh is all about. They want people to come gather over great desserts. The same goes for their Red Bean Soup selections as well as their snacks.
Red Bean with Mini Taro Balls & Rice Balls

Sesame Rice Balls, Almond Pudding with Red Bean, Icy Taro Ball

Icy Grass Jelly

Other must try items in the menu are the Icy Taro Ball #4, Hot Red Bean, and the Winter Melon Tea with Taro Balls, a traditional beverage in Taiwan served with mini taro balls and whipped cream.

“In the last few years, Taiwan has become a favorite travel destination of Filipinos. And for those who love to go on a food trip, Meet Fresh is one of the places you have to include in your itinerary. That is why we decided to bring Meet Fresh to the Philippines so that everyone can discover and enjoy the taste of authentic Taiwanese desserts,” says Janzen De Jesus, Franchise Owner, Meet Fresh Philippines.
Meet Fresh has more than 700 locations worldwide throughout Asia Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States. Meet Fresh is located at Level 5, Podium Mall.
