Where to stay in Makati: Holiday Inn & Suites
Over the weekend, Tim and I stayed at Holiday Inn & Suites Makati to celebrate our fifth month as husband and wife. We booked one of three one-bedroom suites available at the hotel, and it was all sorts of amazing! We don't normally splurge on things like this, but I thought he could use the change of environment and relax a bit, even for just one weekend.
But before we headed to the room, we first had lunch at Holiday Inn's buffet restaurant, Flavors. Great timing, too, because this month, they're celebrating all things adobo!
Adobo is arguably the quintessential Filipino dish – ask a Filipino how they like their adobo, and you’ll probably get a different answer each time. Such is the nature of this much-loved dinner table staple: it is enjoyed in countless of different ways. This is precisely what Holiday Inn & Suites Makati celebrates this October with Adobo Nation, a festival that brings to light the unique and inventive ways of cooking adobo aside from the classic.
Enjoy dishes like Adobo Chicken Roulade with Sisig Stuffing, Sinaing na Bangus Adobo, Chicken Adobo Pianggan with Palapa Sauce, Adobo Paella, Adobong Tuna, and my favorites - Stuffed Squid with Spiced Adobo Garlic Sauce, Adobo Cheesecake, and Adobo Pandesal!
Of course, taking the lead is the Adobo Queen herself, Nancy Lumen-Reyes, along with chefs
Jen Seranilla and Jaja Andal of Holiday Inn & Suites Makati!
“We chose to cook variants of adobo to show that the dish is neither just a recipe, nor a cooking style, but actually menu of assorted tastes centered on sour and salty, and sometimes also sweet,” Reyes- Lumen asserts. “Adobo reflects the Filipino personality – our abilitiy to create different styles based on a centerpiece dish, ‘strike anywhere’ as they say. The name ‘adobo’ may be borrowed, but the flavors, ingredients, and colors of adobo cover the foodscape of this country and is so much a part of our culture that we truly own it. What other dish can you bring and eat for all occasions, whether you’re at the airport, dorm, beach, wake, party, meeting, or what have you? Only adobo. Every Pinoy has an adobo story, and that is why it’s a part of our lives.
“Adobo is such a big part of Filipino cuisine, we want our guests, especially those coming from abroad, to experience it, as well as how it translates to different dishes and not just the classic pork and chicken,” states Holiday Inn & Suites manager Andy Belmonte. “We hope they come to love adobo as much as we Filipinos do.”

We had an entire living room with a TV, a mini kitchen (with a sink, an induction cooker, a microwave, kettle, even pans and plates, should you need them), and a dining table.
The best part? The bedroom, of course!! Absolutely loved how cozy it all looked! They even have options for pillows - choose between soft and firm. Both Tim and I went with the firm. :D
We stayed at Holiday Inn & Suites for two nights, but since it was an eventful weekend for us, we were out pretty much the entire time. I didn't even get to use the desk other than for my DIY greeting card for my teacher friends.
Also, can I just mention how extremely helpful the staff at Holiday Inn was? I had to make the Teacher's Day cards last minute, so I called up room service to ask if they had any kind of art materials, and they sent these over:

Made great use of the lounge though. We had cocktails there before walking over to Glorietta to watch Hustlers. If you're looking to spend a chill weekend in Makati, I highly recommend Holiday Inn because everything is walking distance! SOBRANG CONVENIENT, I cannot stress that enough.
Breakfast was spent there twice and each time, the service was impeccable. The food was really good too. We appreciated that they offer eggs (cooked however way you want) on top of the food already at the buffet, so we left with full tummies.
