Ippudo: New Dishes

It's been a while, Ippudo.

Since I've been trying to lay off on carbs, ramen places have become (temporarily) off-limits. But when it so happens that your foodie friends want to meet up and have dinner at Ippudo, well, you don't really have a choice there, do you? You'd then have to cheat on your diet. Sorry, diet. Haha.

Sorry, diet seems to be a phrase I've been saying a lot lately. Even though my wedding was three weeks ago, I'm still trying to lay off on the carbs. I really, really have to be strict and focus on my goals a lot more. Promise, last na 'to. I mean, Ippudo's just too good to pass up. If it helps, I didn't order any ramen.. just went for the appetizers.

Ebi Tempura Roll (P299)

fried tempura roll made with nori and Japanese rice, drizzled with sweet unagi sauce and topped with spicy mayo and ebiko

Torched Salmon Roll (P299)
My favorite! Ippudo's take on a torched salmon sushi roll topped with creamy mentaiko mayo and fish roe!

Hakata Style Gyoza (P210)

Pan-fried dumplings! Ever since Tim found out about my love affair with gyoza, he always makes it a point to have at least one order for us whenever we dine at a Japanese restaurant.

What my friends ordered: Tantanmen and Shiromaru Special

And Ippudo's newest Mushroom Ramen (P420) - Ippudo's original thin noodles in a fresh mushroom broth infused with miso paste and garlic oil. Topped with braised silken Japanese tofu, ajikikurage, spring onions, bean sprouts, and fried mushrooms of three different kinds
This one's almost vegetarian, except for the noodles that has eggs and the pork flavor they used to braise the tofu. But yeah, it's quite flavorful for something that doesn't have meat in it.

Last but not the least is my latest Ippudo discovery - their buns!

Both the Pork and Fried Chicken Buns are really good, not bad for Php 125 each!
Definitely a must try. In fact, I wouldn't mind going to Ippudo just for these!

Visit Ippudo on the third floor of Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall, Ortigas, Mandaluyong City.
