Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen

Ramen heaven!!

I can't really remember the last time I ate at Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen. Surely this wasn't the first time, right? I mean they have nine branches all over the metro, and since Tim and I love ramen so much, we've probably dined here before and I just don't remember it.
See, that's the problem when I don't write about things or I don't take photos when I go out. I easily forget things - it's why, as much as possible, I try to record things on my phone, my camera, or my blog. So, when the opportunity to dine at Ikkoryu came a-knockin' (aka when my tita asked me to watch over her condo for a few days and I got to meet up with friends in the area), I made sure to bring my camera and snap away.
Now, normally, I'd skip the page where it says SALADS (haha) but my friends were interested trying these out and so we did. On the left is the Hiyashi Chuka (P280) which is Ikkoryu's Salad Ramen, while on the right is the simple Ikkoryu Salad (P100) that comes with corn chips, bean sprouts, and a lot of sesame seeds. For appetizers, we ordered three.

Original Gyoza (P180)

Chicken Karaage (P180)

Potato Croquette (P160)
If it's your first time reading my blog - Hi, Hello, I'm Bettina, and I love gyoza. I don't know what it is about the steamed dumplings but I absolutely love them. If it's on the menu, I have to order it. Easy as that. I could eat an entire order (or two) on my own. Trust me, I've done it before. Haha. Their karaage was pretty good too, especially once you dip it into some Japanese mayo. It's crunchy and flavorful. My only tip when eating the potato croquettes? Be careful. It may be cold on the outside, but piping hot inside, so I suggest cutting it in half rather than putting the entire thing in your mouth in one go. ;)

Onto the main event - the ramen! I'm going to be honest and let you know I don't exactly remember which is which and how each of these taste since I didn't actually get to taste them all. But I'm gonna try my best, okay?

Ajitama Tonkotsu (P380)
topped with a special half boiled egg that is fully marinated in a special blended soy sauce base

Ikkoryu Original Tonkotsu (P330)
Ikkoryu original hearty tonkotsu ramen garnished with chashu, green onion, wood ear, and dried seaweed

Black Garlic Tonkotsu (P380)
tonkotsu soup mixed with special roast garlic oil

Tantan Tonkotsu (P380)
Ikkoryu's take on a Szechuan favorite. Tonkotsu ramen in spicy zest, warming and richly savored with minced pork hand in hand with Ikkoryu's special shoyu sauce, sesame, and chilli oil

Aburi Chashu Tonkotsu (P400)
generous slices of Aburi Chashu topped on Ikkoryu's Original Tonkotsu

Spicy Tobanjan Tonkotsu (P380)
ramen with spicy tobanjan paste, resulting in an absolutely appetizing and wholesome flavor

Yuzu Tama Tonkotsu (P380)
flavored with yuzukosyo, one of the spices that the Kyushu region of Japan is known for. A spice experience in ramen like no other.
Out of all the ramen bowls I've listed down, my favorite was the Aburi Chashu. Normally, I don't care for the meats in my ramen. I just really want the egg, the noodles, and the soup. But in this case, I couldn't stop eating the torched pork slice, plus, it adds so much flavor to the dish. So I highly recommend ordering that.
