Ang Babaeng Allergic Sa Wifi: in cinemas nationwide on August 15, 2018!!
Norma is an ordinary teenage girl, and like most girls her life (and love life) revolves around technology. One day she is diagnosed with Electromagnetic Hyper-Sensitivity — an unusual illness that makes her literally allergic to Wi-Fi, data signals, etc. So she is forced to move in with her grandmother in the province and learns to live a much simpler life that will impact her relationship with Leo — and her friendship with Leo’s brother, Aries.
Ang Babaeng Allergic Sa WiFi is a story about love, friendship, and family. Despite its unique concept, I thought the movie was still very relatable as it was able to address common everyday issues like sibling rivalry and our addiction to social media (and being online 24/7). I mean, can you imagine being allergic to Wi-Fi like Norma? No more stalking your crushes on Instagram or posting live updates on Facebook for all your friends to see! The movie also gave me perspective - how the internet shouldn't play such a big role in our lives. Sure, it can't really be avoided anymore; we need it to communicate and learn new things, but we should still control and limit the times that we're online and focus more on being in the present.

Aries (played by Jameson Blake) fell in love with Norma (Sue Ramirez) the first time he saw her. But as it turns out, Norma is actually his brother Leo's girlfriend. Leo (played by Markus Peterson) is the typical jock who only has time for sports and gets other people (in this case, Aries) to do his school work for him. When Norma developed Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS), she had to move with her grandmother in the province where there's no Wi-Fi signal. At first, she was very hesitant as this meant not getting to text her boyfriend Leo and post photos for her #FeedGoals. But eventually she was able to let go of these things and see the real value in spending time with your loved ones. I also liked how the movie made use of vintage and old memorabilia like polaroid cameras and tape recorders, and simple joys like riding bikes in the countryside.
Eventually, Leo and Norma fell apart, but Aries, being the supportive and loving person that he is, made it seem that things were still okay - by pretending he was Leo and writing love letters to Norma. He even covered for his brother's faults against her, which led to her hating both of them. Soon, Leo realized that he didn't deserve her and gave way for Aries and Norma to be together instead. The two got into an accident, which unfortunately, led to Aries' death (!!!!) Norma was, of course, devastated, but just like everyone else, she had to learn to move on and continue living her life. The movie ended with Norma pursuing her dreams of becoming a pilot.
I definitely had my kilig moments with this one and honestly, I got teary-eyed when Aries died. It was so sad because it was almost a happy ending, but stupid Leo had to get drunk and chat up his brother while he was driving!! :( But overall it was a really good movie with a legit story. The cinematography was excellent as well, especially the drone shots! I wasn't really sure how she got over her sickness, but I researched on EHS and there are a lot of articles on how to reduce its effects to get better. So I guess it's really possible.
