Finally back in Japan! Here's day one of our adventure: taking the Narita Express, shopping at 100 Yen Shop and 3 Coins, and having late dinner at Arashi Ramen!
When we arrived at Narita Airport, my friends and I were already super tired due to the fact that we had been traveling since that morning (we had to stop over Hong Kong since we rode Cathay Pacific). So once we got to Japan, we didn't really have the patience to study the trains to get to our AirBnb, we immediately lined up for Narita Express bound for Shinjuku. It was ¥3,190 per person (about Php 1,500) - kind of pricey, to be honest - but it was really comfortable and spacious. Plus, seats are assigned, so you can lay back, relax (and even sleep!) while you wait for your stop.
Tim and I brought our matching Herschel bags with us on the trip since we've learned that carrying things on our backs is much easier than just carrying them over our shoulders or well, just holding them. Besides, I decided to bring two cameras with me, so having a big bag definitely helped.
It's neither of our first times in Japan, but it was our first time together. And we were super excited for the trip!
Once we arrived in our AirBnb aka our Japan home, Tim and I decided to go buy food, while our friends stayed back and rested for a bit.
Since it was already late, a lot of the stores have already closed for the night. But Tim and I were happy to just walk around and explore the area. We eventually found ourselves a 100 Yen Shop (the only 100 yen shop we visited during the trip) where Tim got himself a pair of gloves to fight the cold and I bought pretty much a whole bag of random stuff (including an eyebrow pencil, marble stickers, and a bonnet).
Soon after, we found a 3 Coins shop, my favorite store from my last visit to Japan! Majority of the items there cost only ¥300 (about Php 150) so I was able to buy a cute hexagon-shaped container, a pair of dangling earrings, a luggage strap, and wood block calendar.
I then remembered why we were out in the crazy cold - to find dinner! We stumbled upon this cute ramen joint called Arashi.
It's one of those vendo-type ramen places, which we thought did not have anything in English (we later realized they have a separate English menu lol) so we just based our orders off of the photos.
We each got a bowl of ramen and shared an order of gyoza.
Whenever Tim orders gyoza, he always tells me it's for him, but for some reason, I always end up eating most of it. Deep down I know he really orders it for me because he knows it's my favorite. Haha. Thanks for never letting me go hungry!
It was a great first meal in Japan. Domo arigato, Arashi!
