Marco Polo Manila: New Ala Carte Menu

Experience the new additions with the all-time classic signature dishes of the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Award Winner's signature outlet, Cucina's new a la carte menu.

For the longest time, I've been enjoying the different buffet offerings of Cucina at Marco Polo Manila. Unfortunately, I have never tried anything from their a la carte menu until I heard that Executive Chef Alisdair Bletcher created new dishes for it - appetizers and salads, pizzas, sandwiches, main dishes, desserts, and a whole lot more.

Some of these are Grilled Ciabatta with Parma Ham, Buffalo Mozzarella, Semi-Dried Tomatoes, Arugula Leaves, and Basil Pesto; Smoked Salmon, Tomato, Buffalo Mozzarella, and Arugula Leaves Pizza; Australian Stockyard Long Fed Angus Beef Rib Eye; and Dulce de Leche Cheesecake with Banana Compote and Ginger Ice Cream. Sounds amazing, right? Don't worry, they kept some signature dishes on the new menu including the crowd-favorite Spanish Paella, Gratinated Fillet of Chilean Sea Bass with Lemon Parsley Crust on Wilted Spinach Leaves, and Chocolate Grand Marnier.

Our four-course lunch began with the Parma Ham with Grilled Marinated Asparagus Spears, Shimeji Mushrooms, and Porcini Vinaigrette.

Each ingredient brought a new flavor to the dish - from the melt-in-your-mouth parma ham, the buttered asparagus, earthy mushrooms, to the delicious tanginess of the vinaigrette.

Next came the White Onion Soup with Seared Scallops, Thyme Leaves, and Truffle Oil.

This comforting bowl of creamy soup with succulent scallops and a sprinkle of truffle oil made for a wonderful second course. I wanted more, but I had to leave space for the next items on the menu.

The afternoon's main offering was the Gratinated Fillet of Chilean Sea Bass with Lemon Parsley Crust on Wilted Spinach Leaves, Mushrooms, Tomatoes, and Pommery Mustard Cream.

Everyone raved about how healthy yet satisfying this one was. As much as we foodies love our meat, this Chilean sea bass just hits the spot. I honestly didn't think I'd like it that much, but with the addition of the lemon parsley crust and the pommery mustard cream, I totally wouldn't mind having this again in the near future.

Last, but not the least, dessert! Similar to the Chilean sea bass, this is one of the signature dishes from their a la carte menu that they chose to keep... and for good reason! Everyone, meet the Chocolate Grand Marnier Slice with Candied Orange Peel and Vanilla Creme Brulee.

This was the perfect ending to the meal. Rich chocolate in every bite! Pair it with a cup of brewed coffee or Marco Polo's Silk Road Iced Coffee.

The Silk Road Iced Coffee is made from overnight-infused coffee, mountains of meringue, swirls of chocolate, and a perfectly warmed cookie. A refreshing treat that will surely lift your mood and leave you feeling more energized for the long day ahead.
