Hong Kong Food Guide: Part 1

A quick guide on what to eat when in Hong Kong!



The last time I was in Hong Kong, I didn't really get to take a lot of photos, so this time around, I made sure to do so. I even create a food guide for those planning to visit Hong Kong in the near future. I hope this post helps you discover and enjoy more of what Hong Kong has to offer! :)

Hay Hay Kitchen
Address: Shop N-P, Blk B, Hay Wah Bldg, 72-86 Lockhard Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong
What we recommend: Crispy Roasted Pork and Spicy Eggplant with Minced Pork on Rice
Note: They are open until 1:00 am every day.

Yum Cha
Address: 3/F, 20-22, Granville Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
What we ordered: BBQ Piggy Buns, Hot Custard Molten Buns, and Spicy Minced Pork & Shrimp in Sichuan style
Note: They charge a fee of 12 HKD per person for tea/water.

What we ordered: Roasted Goose, Char Siu, Hainanese Chicken, Crispy Pork
Note: No English menu, but the staff will gladly suggest some dishes you can order.

What we recommend: 1/4 Roasted Goose with Drumstick
Note: Try to come in the afternoon as there's always a long waiting line during lunch time.

Mak's Noodle
Address: 47 Parkes Street, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
What we ordered: Shrimp Wonton in Soup, Tossed Noodles with Beef Brisket, Tossed Noodles with Beef Tendon, and Tossed Noodles with Wonton Dumpling & Oyster Sauce
Note: You can't go wrong with wontons! A good alternative is Mak Man Kee which is located just two stores down from Mak's Noodle.

What I ordered: Pork Chop Rice with Japanese Curry and a glass of cold milk tea
Note: Good value for money. Has numerous branches in Hong Kong.

What we ordered: Beef Brisket in Broth, Beef Slices in Broth, and Beef Tendon in Curry
Note: They have really good Flat and E-Fu Noodles!

Dim Dim Sum

What we recommend: Piggy Custard Buns, Mushroom Buns with Taro Filling, Steamed Rice Rolls with Black Truffles and Mixed Mushrooms, Pineapple Buns with Pineapple Custard Filling, Deep Fried Dumplings with Wasabi Filling, and Shrimp and Pork Dumplings with Crab Roe

Note: Bought these at Mongkok and Sham Shui Po

What we recommend: Egg Waffles and Eggettes
Note: You can also find this at random food stalls all over HK.
