The Great Eatscape: COCA Restaurant

A few weeks ago, I was invited to The Great Eatscape - a series of food crawls by SM Aura and ForkSpoonManila.

Being from Quezon City, I don't get to venture the Makati/Taguig area very often, so when Alexis of ForkSpoonManila invited me to The Great Eatscape at SM Aura on a holiday (hint: no traffic), I was quick to say yes.
The Great Eatscape is SM Aura's food crawl series in partnership with ForkSpoonManila. The word “eatscape" comes from the word eat which means to consume food, and scape which is a view or a picture of a scene. Combined, it’s basically a food scene where you can experience or rediscover the many different and unique dining options that can be found at SM Aura Premier.

The first leg happened last September 12, 2016, which was a holiday Monday in the Philippines. For those who aren't from here, holidays mean car-less roads since people often hang out in the malls or spend their long weekends out of town. On normal days, it would probably take me two hours or more to get to SM Aura from my house, but that Monday, it took me less than an hour! So anyway, we all met up at COCA - a restaurant famous for its Thai-style Suki steamboat dining.
Coca Restaurant
"COCA ‘Suki’ Steamboat was founded in 1957 by Mr. Srichai Phanphensophon and his wife, Mrs. Patama. As a young lady, Mrs Patama spent hours in the kitchen, learning about fresh ingredients, putting together traditional authentic recipes and gradually became one of the best chefs in her family. Spurred by her love for cooking, Mrs Patama created the menu from her family recipes and eventually with her husband, pioneered the COCA experience, a new Thai-style ‘Suki’ steamboat dining. Over the years, they also created the signature COCA sauce, the dipping sauce to complement the meal. The couple decided to name the restaurant COCA, inspired by the Chinese words, “可口”, which means ‘tasty’ or ‘appetizing’." (source)

The best part is when they turned the leftover soup from the Red Fire Platter into risotto. They just added some rice and spices to it and it turns into an entirely new dish! Galing noh? :) I love that nothing goes to waste here.
