Chef Robert: Comfort Food at its Finest!

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you and your friends couldn't agree on where or what to eat? Perhaps you were craving for some pasta, but they wanted to go with a different cuisine, like Filipino or Thai? I have personally experienced this countless times before, and I'm sure you have, too. But I'm proud to say I have found the perfect solution to this problem, and it's none other than Chef Robert!
Chef Robert
Chef Robert has been open for almost five years now, offering everyone's favorites all in one place. Mike and I were lucky enough to have met the Chef Robert himself during our visit. Drop by sometime and you might get to meet the man behind it all, too. ;)

At first, Mike and I thought that the food at Chef Robert was going to be expensive (given their cafe-ish vibe), but it's not. They have a wide range of food choices at reasonable prices. Though, to tell you the truth, I didn't really know what to expect - what is comfort food anyway, right? I guess people would have different definitions - for me, it would be pasta or desserts; to Mike, it's probably any meat dish. To Chef Robert, it's simply bestsellers. So what he did was to put together a menu that consists of bestsellers from different cuisines. Rather than focusing on a type of food, he focused on what people like instead. Galing diba? :)

We started off with their best-selling soups - the Cream of Pumpkin and the Cream of Mushroom!

Both taste really good, but the mushroom soup wins this round for me. It's creamier, and the shiitake and button mushroom bits are a big plus! I had my parents try this last Sunday and they loved it, too.

Me and my bottomless red iced tea. I seldom have iced tea nowadays, so I really appreciate being able to drink it to my heart's content, especially since it was extremely hot that day.

Next, we have my absolute favorite - the Thai Green Chicken Curry. I could've finished this by myself if I didn't have to share with Mike.. Haha! Seriously though, I can't imagine eating at Chef Robert and not ordering this. A definite must-try. I can not emphasize that enough.

Here's their take on Korean Beef Stew. We have this at home sometimes, and I think this is one of those dishes that everyone just likes. The key here is the tender meat and I'm glad Chef Robert is able to his promise of "tempting beef stewed to perfection." Enjoy this more by drowning your rice in the sauce - that's what I did! :)

And finally, we have dessert! I've never been a fan of carrots, but this Carrot Cake Overload is something I really liked. Filled with carrots, walnuts and raisins, topped with cream cheese frosting.

Would you believe everything we ate cost only P888? Check out their other promos below! :)

Hmm, think I'll try the blueberry cheesecake next time.

I enjoyed the food so much, I came back the following day with my family for Mother's Day! :D

Of course I had them order the Thai Green Chicken Curry, but aside from that, we also had some Filipino favorites like Kare-Kare, Bangus Sisig, Gabi Rolls and Boneless Crispy Pata. My dad couldn't stop raving about the Kare-Kare, he said it was the best kare-kare he's had in a long while. My dad can be very particular when it comes to food, so congrats, Chef Robert! :)

We also tried their Tom Yum Soup and were extremely happy with the amount of soup and shrimp that it contained - perfect for our family! :)Chef Robert 2
We got to try a very sinful dessert which they call Chocolate Temptation. It was SO GOOD. Two layers of chocolate cake with chocolate filling and rich chocolate frosting. Did I say it was sinful? My dad actually stopped everyone from eating so he can have the last bites for himself! Daya! :P

Lesson learned: Do not judge a restaurant by its size or its appearance. There's so much to discover if you just try. The place may be small, but it's the food that counts. Thank you so much to Chef Robert for having us! I'll be back again sometime this week (it'll be my fourth visit this month alone)! :)

Visit Chef Robert at 847 Banawe Street, Quezon City. It's in the same building as Lord Stow's, Spa101 and Pancake House. P.S. They also cater! Call them at 7409330 / 4130674 or email chef.robert@ymail.com to inquire :)
