Welcome to The Porch by Casa Verde.
Yes, you read it right - I said Casa Verde! Aside from the crazy popular branch they opened a few months ago at the UP Town Center, the people behind Casa Verde has another venture in Quezon City called The Porch!
It's a place where you can unwind after a long and tiring day at work; it's a sanctuary where you can eat all your worries away - comfort food at its finest!
Not only that, the place is really amazing. I totally forgot that I was along the busy street of Anonas Extension, it felt like I was at a country home! Just look at these pictures!
If you're not familiar with Casa Verde, well, they're a group that started in Cebu over 10 years ago that finally found their way to Manila late last year. They serve huge portions at very reasonable prices, many would even consider the food cheap. Imagine paying P250 for a plate of ribs that's good for two - that's great value for money right there. And at this day and age where we all want to enjoy delicious food without having to shell out so much cash - this place is just perfect.
Don't you just love the very homey vibe?
They even have books you can borrow and read while you're there!
They also have the cutest condiments holder! :)
Their menu is pretty much the same as Casa Verde's, with some additions here and there (ribs by the bucket, anyone?) Also, the concept is different in the sense that, at The Porch, you'll have to go to the window in the photo below to order and pay. But once that's out of the way, you can spend the rest of the time eating to your heart's content!
Since Mike and I have already tried their best-selling Brian's Ribs at Casa Verde, we decided to try some of their other dishes instead. (Will do a separate post for Casa Verde soon)
Classic Mushroom Soup (P128)
Rich home-made cream of mushroom soup
Cream of Squash (P128)
Simple squash soup with a touch of cream
Seafood Carbonara (P200)
Treasures from the sea - shrimps & squid in a rich creamy white sauce
Best Sampler (P328)
A collection of our best appetizers: golden fried cheese, potato skins & buffalo wings with sides of marinara sauce, sour cream & bleu cheese dressing
Green Tea Ice Cake (P208)
Green tea ice cream with a sponge cake base & cream cheese frosting
Caramel Macchiato Ice Cake (P218)
Coffee and caramel ice cream placed on our special crust
Mike really enjoyed the Caramel Macchiato Ice Cake, while I was honestly torn between the two. The Green Tea Ice Cake was a palate-cleanser, not too sweet, and I thought it was pretty nice to have my tea cold once in a while. The Caramel Macchiato reminded me so much of Starbucks, and it's something that most dessert lovers will enjoy.
I so badly wanted to finish the cakes, but my tummy couldn't take any more. Haha!
My favorites from the night would probably be the dessert and the Best Sampler (loved the marinara sauce, by the way!) The carbonara is a close second because it came with so much seafoooood! Argh, yummmm!
Thank you so much to Therese and the people behind The Porch for having us!
And to Mike for the last 3 photos :)
Just check out the scene as we were walking back to our car.
The place is jampacked even on weekdays!
Sending out a big congratulations to Casa Verde/The Porch for all their success!
