Flossom Kitchen + Cafe

A must-visit when in San Juan!!

I can't believe it took me this long to visit Flossom. For months, I've heard great reviews about it and I don't know, I guess I got preoccupied with other things. I was actually supposed to visit it with friends last January (oh ang tagal na diba!), but I suddenly got the opportunity to fly to Cebu, so of course I went for that instead (don't worry, friends pa rin kami haha)

Fast forward nine months later, I finally got to dine at Flossom and try out their new dishes (yes, they've released new ones na, guys!) People have talked about how great their food is and how instagrammable their interiors are, and I'm glad I got to see it for myself kasi ang ganda talaga.

The food complemented the interiors really well too. Ang sarap eh. I can't believe these are all new dishes! I swear I couldn't stop raving about Flossom to Tim and even to my family.. I told them they had to go back with me (but syempre libre nila ako haha)

Baked Brie with Fig Jam (P350)
It tastes as beautiful as it looks. Baked brie is an amazing thing - it melts in your mouth almost - I can't believe I've never had it before. Spread this beautiful soft baked brie in olive oil, thyme, fig jam onto your baguette, take a bit, and enjoy. P.S. The brie to baguette ratio is more than enough; we actually had to ask for more baguette.
Next up is the Shimeji Fritters (P280).
I enjoyed this so much that when I came back with my family a week later, I made sure to have them try it. And I'm so glad they liked it as well! Not that I was surprised, I mean, who wouldn't like lightly fried shimeji mushrooms with marinara dip and garlic aioli dip?? Who?? Exactly.

Daddy's Homemade Sisig (P300)
Sisig has always been one of those dishes I crave for whenever I'm in dire need of some comfort food or feel like pigging out, and I love how Flossom has it on their menu! Minced pork belly, mayonnaise, garlic rice, chicken skin bits, finger chili and egg - no need for Knorr seasoning, guys! ;P

Cheeseburger Bolognese (P320)
This was probably the first dish to be wiped clean that afternoon. I absolutely loved the flavors in this one - it reminded me of the pasta we'd have at home when we were kids. Made with ground angus patty, mixed herbs, red sauce, garlic, sliced cheese, and spaghetti noodles.

Truffle Lechon (P350)
Can pasta get any more sinful? This Truffle Lechon pasta shows that it can! Haha! I honestly don't mind if there's lechon, but for a lot of guys, that's heck of a good reason to eat pasta. Haha. I personally love carbs, so lechon or not, I'd totally be up for this, especially because I loooove creamy truffle sauce on pasta! This one makes use of farfalle noodles.

Ribeye Salpicao (P650)
My kind of salpicao! This one is extra special because they make use of rib eye cubes for the meat, finished off with their special salpicao sauce, button mushrooms, and rice on the side.

Porchetta Italiana (P420)
I can't believe how crunchy the skin was despite us having to take photos first before eating it. Portions aren't bad for its price and can definitely feed at least two people. All you need is rice!

Apple Pie ala Mode (P175)
I'm not a fan of apple pies in general because that always means a lot of cinnamon, which I'm not all that keen on. But I did appreciate them serving this with ice cream. It made me enjoy it more and steal more bites than I intended to. I actually like how the apples were crunchier than usual, though some might prefer it softer.

The dessert that came after was my favorite.. the Custard Fritters (P180).
Anything with custard immediately gets me excited. This one features custard egg rolls with yema sauce, whipped cream, and powdered sugar. I think I had two of these (sorry dun sa hindi nakakain haha)
Thank you for existing, Flossom. I can't wait to go back and try more of your dishes soon.
Visit Flossom Place at 187 N. Averilla Street, Greater San Juan, San Juan City.
