Something new to love at Chibo Okonomiyaki - their Premium Executive Set Meals!
A few months ago, I wrote about my first ever visit to Chibo Okonomiyaki at S Maison. Since then, they have opened a new branch at The Podium Mall (a lot closer to where I live, but still not close enough haha) but of course I still went.. And there, I got to try their new Premium Executive Set Meals!
Compared to S Maison, their Podium branch is smaller and in a sense, simpler. Here, you won't find teppanyaki grills or food warmers on the tables, since those who usually dine there work in the area and are always in a rush. Aside from that, no one probably wants to smell like teppanyaki in the office, right? So yeah, I guess it makes sense.
Chibo Okonomiyaki is best known for their (duh) okonomiyaki but you shouldn't disregard their other dishes, like for example their Buta Yakisoba (which my fiance loves!) and their U.S. Beef Tenderloin Steak (high grade premium meat!) You can read more about them here.
This time around, we have the Premium Executive Set Meals, all of which are served with rice, salad, miso soup, and house blend iced tea. It's perfect for when you're dining alone or looking to have quality meals on a budget.
Choose from eight set meals on their menu:
Pork Ju (P488)
spinach, onions, pork belly slices in shoyu wine sauce
Mixed Seafood Ju (P688)
Norwegian salmon, U.S. scallops, squid, and tiger prawn in salt garlic sauce
U.S. Angus Steak Ju (P788)
U.S. Prime Angus Steak in garlic ginger wine sauce
Unagi Kabayaki Ju (P888)
fresh water Japanese eel marinated in sweet cake and sweet dark soy sauce
Hamburger Steak with Teriyaki Sauce (P488)
grated pork and beef mixed with onion, garlic, and panko flakes
Cheese Hamburger Steak with Teriyaki Sauce (P588)
grated pork and beef mixed with onion, garlic, cheese, and panko flakes
Osaka Meal (P588)
half okonomiyaki and half yakisoba with mentaiko mayo
Oden Meal (P588)
grilled fish cake alongside deep-fried fish cake, konnyaku, and daikon radish in Japanese-style stew partnered with grilled salmon (this unfortunately wasn't available during our visit)
I wish I could tell you guys how each one tasted, but I didn't want to steal food from other people's bowls so I just focused on mine, which was the Unagi Kabayaki Ju. To tell you the truth, I don't normally order unagi (I initially wanted the Osaka Meal), so I don't have a lot of experience on how it should taste or anything like that, but the version that I got to taste at Chibo Okonomiyaki was really good. I liked that it was sweet and soft, almost melts in your mouth. It was so flavorful that I finished my rice despite having gyoza, okonomiyaki, and yakisoba as well. Haha.
I'd definitely recommend the Premium Executive Set Meals for those taking a quick break from work or their errands and looking to get a complete meal in one order. But if you're dining with a group and not at all in a rush, then I would suggest getting plates to share instead since Chibo Okonomiyaki has a whole lot of great dishes that are worth trying.
Gyoza Teppan (P168)
Buta Yakisoba (P238)
Butatama Okonomiyaki (P288)
