Star Cruises SuperStar Virgo: High Seas Cruise

Star Cruises SuperStar Virgo
A weekend with Star Cruises SuperStar Virgo!

If you guys remember, last year, Star Cruises made Manila their homeport for the very first time ever! I was lucky enough to have experienced it with my sister, my mom, and her friends back in May 2017 when we went to Laoag, Kaohsiung, and Hong Kong through, of course, SuperStar Virgo!

This time around, I got to enjoy their two-night high seas cruise with my blogger BFFs and even got to meet new media and blogger friends along the way! It was something I never thought I'd get to experience again. I thought getting onboard a cruise ship was only going to be a once-in-a-lifetime thing for me, that's why I feel really blessed to have been chosen as one of the bloggers to enjoy this sea-cation with Star Cruises on their second run here in Manila!

Since I already did a blog post on my favorite things on the cruise, I thought I'd do it differently this time and show you what happens on a typical day onboard SuperStar Virgo.

For starters, we all met up at Hotel H2o then took a complimentary shuttle to Pier 15 where the ship was docked. But before boarding, we had to go through security, baggage check-in, and immigration. P.S. You are required to bring your passport for immigration (and will be asked to leave it with Star Cruises for the duration of the trip), but take note that the entire cruise is VISA-FREE. So don't worry if you don't have a Visa for Taiwan or Japan since it's not a requirement to join the 6D5N trip with SuperStar Virgo.

By the time we boarded, it was almost sunset, so we quickly checked into our rooms, freshened up, and met up for dinner at Taverna.

Here's a quick room tour:

The Room: Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony
Star Cruises SuperStar Virgo
I stayed at one of their Oceanview Staterooms located at decks 9, 10 and 11 of SuperStar Virgo. Last year, my family booked an Inside Stateroom which didn't have any windows (let alone a balcony) so this was a much more comfortable setup, in my opinion. The room doesn't feel cramped and you really get to enjoy the fresh air and natural light coming in from the balcony.

The bathrooms come with the usual toiletries like shampoo, body wash, toothbrush, shaving cream, shower cap, etc. Pretty much everything we'll be needing on our two-night stay.

In the middle is your sink and a mirror; the toilet is located on the left and the shower on the right.

Slippers and bathrobes are also provided, though we didn't really get to use them since we were out and about pretty much the entire day. That's the great thing about SuperStar Virgo, you'll never run out of things to do! There's just so much to see (and eat) onboard; two nights is definitely not enough!

Dinner at Taverna
Star Cruises SuperStar Virgo
For dinner, Star Cruises hooked us up a private buffet dinner at Taverna, their poolside themed snack bar. Ordering a la carte on a cruise can be quite expensive, but you can always eat for free at any of these three restaurants: The Lido (International buffet), Star Dining (Western), and Pavilion (Chinese).

Our dinner consisted of shrimps, lobsters, beef wellington, lamb chops, clam chowder, and an assortment of salads and desserts! It was an amazing welcome treat from the folks over at SuperStar Virgo, and it was only the beginning of what was going to be a spectacular weekend on the high seas!

Sunset on Pier 15
Star Cruises SuperStar Virgo
Even though we've already been onboard a couple of hours, the ship still hasn't left the dock. Not that it matters, I mean, it's not like we're going anywhere. Haha! So anyway, I took the opportunity to snap some photos of the wonderful (pink!!) sunset that evening.

Aside from the unlimited food, there are also all kinds of shows you can watch and enjoy at SuperStar Virgo. The first one we saw was Night Rhythm, which was just by the Parthenon Pool (located right below Taverna). Here's a tip: There's always something happening on the ship, so make sure to refer to your Star Navigator for the schedules!

Soon after, it was time to hit the deck for the mandatory fire drill. Yes, this is a requirement for all guests. They will record the room numbers of those who have attended; those who have not will be asked to go to a make-up class the following day. It will only take a few minutes, and it's really all for YOUR safety, so there's really no reason why you should attempt to skip this.

And the highlight of the night - the magic show at the Zodiac Theatre entitled Spirits. I got to watch Vincent Vignaud perform last year and he was amazing! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take any good photos back then, so I really made sure that my friends and I went to the theatre early so we could all get a good view of his show. I'm so glad he did not disappoint.

We ended our first night with supper at The Lido. We stayed there until midnight (forgot to take photos because food is life haha) P.S. you can eat up to six times a day at their inclusive restaurants - just check the schedules on your Star Navigator! ;)
