Now open: Shell's newest Select Store in Magallanes!
You're probably wondering, why write about a Shell Select store? How different is this one from all the rest?
Well, since you asked, let me tell you about it. The Shell Select store in Magallanes is the first of its kind - it is Shell's new store format, creating a distinctive retail experience by catering to the different needs of customers, from products to customer service.
This one works as a one-stop shop of sorts, offering more than the regular convenience store stuff. I mean, they even carry some items that you can't find in major supermarkets! Check these out:
Bottled Fish
Salted Eggs
Chocolate Crinkles, Butterscotch, and Ensaymada
Assorted Deli Meats
Snack items like Pickled Mangoes, Salted Egg Chips, and Hopia!
My favorite suka, Tu'Ka (tagline: Mauutal ka ta talap!) and Kewpie!
Fruits - chestnuts, sweet tamarind, oranges, apples, and pears!
And a great selection of wines!
Another thing I noticed they had was a bills payment machine and an ATM near the car accessories section.
But I guess the biggest difference for me are the delis that now take up permanent spaces at the Shell Select store. For Shell Magallanes, it's Turks, GongCha, and Potato Corner!
In the middle of it all, we have Deli2Go. It is Shell Select's own brand of food and beverages that will surely fill you up wherever you're headed for the day!
To start, Deli2Go now has its own range of cold-pressed juices made with fruits and vegetables.
These are made with natural ingredients - no water or sugar are added to any of them so you get the goodness of real fruits and vegetables in every sip! Prices for the fruit juices range from Php50-Php65 while the detox juices are at Php190 - Php200.
Next, the Deli2Go rice meals!
We got to try a couple of their offerings and found them to be really good considering they only cost around Php 60 each. Here are the rice meals we got to try: Chicken Sausage, Beef Tapa, Bistek Tagalog, Sisig, and Pork Menudo!
The meals are mostly reheated (the rice and egg are cooked fresh) but the quality of the food wasn't bad at all. In fact, Reese and I really enjoyed the menudo, while Perie finished off an entire Beef Tapa meal in under five minutes. Haha!
I personally stayed away from eating rice because I knew we were going to try some real good pastries next!
Firecracker Sausage (P110/pc)
Chocolate Roll (P49/pc)
Banana Puff (P49/pc)
Chocolate Chip / Double Chocolate Chip Cookies (P20/pc)
Polly's Chocolate Cake (P75/slice; P535/whole)
Pair your pastries with any of their drinks - choose from their numerous hot and iced coffee options, frappes, and smoothies! The new Iced Bellagio Chocolate (P90) was my favorite ;)
Also, they have really good soft-serve ice cream! Get the Soft Serve Mountain (five twirls) for only Php 20! This is a limited time offer so better try it before the year ends! Have your choice of caramel/chocolate sauce for an additional Php 10.
Get the regular soft serve ice cream for Php 15.
There's a lot waiting for you at Shell's new generation store, so drop by Shell Select Magallanes for a quick bite on your next road trip!
.. Or you know, you could always hang out here. They have free wifi, guys. ;)
Shell Magallanes is located along Magallanes Avenue, South Super Highway, Makati City.
