What's new at Kushikatsu Daruma? Here's a hint: rice bowls and ramen!
From Osaka to Manila, meet Kushikatsu Daruma.
Kushikatsu Daruma opened earlier this year at Uptown Mall, but it's a concept that has long been around. In fact, it started in Osaka in 1929.
They're known for their deep-fried skewers made with light batter dipped in special tonkatsu sauce.
And their only rule? NO DOUBLE DIPPING!
I really hope to God that people follow that rule. I don't even want to think about the fact that other people may have double dipped. Eww. :((
You could go for their Beginner Level (9 sticks) or Advanced Level (11 sticks) sets, or get single stick orders, which are priced at Php39 or Php59 each, instead.
The Beginner Level set (P480) includes: Classic Kushikatsu, Prawn, Chicken with Garlic, Chikuwa, Tsukune, Tonkatsu, Leeks, Potato, and Camembert Cheese.
While the Advanced Level Set (P480): Classic Kushikatsu, Chicken Heart, Chicken Intestine, Pork Intestine, Chicken Gizzard, Garlic, Lady Finger, Gyoza, White Onion, Leeks, and Tonkatsu.
When Tim and I ate at Kushikatsu Daruma a few days ago, we opted to go for single stick orders. If you're planning to do the same (and are on a budget), try take note of the prices as it's very easy to get carried away with these things. I think we ended up ordering more than 10 sticks, and that's on top of the rice bowls we each had!
Anyway, onto the bowls!
Gyudon with Egg (P295)
Curry Chahan (P160)
Gyudon with Cheese (P330)
Karaage Nanban Rice (P330)
Oyakodon (P295)
Chicken Teriyaki (P295)
Aside from the rice bowls, why not try their ramen too?
Kushikatsu Daruma is located at 2/F Uptown Place Mall, 36th Street Corner 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City
