Barenaked Body Sugaring Salon Banawe

My sugaring experience at Barenaked Body Sugaring Salon in Banawe!

It's been a long while since my last sugaring session. A lot of people have told me that sugaring is less painful than waxing, but from my experience, that's not the case. I remember cringing from pain while the ates (yes, two of them) worked on making my legs hair-free using a mixture of sugar, water, and lemon. After that painful experience, I decided to go back to waxing.

It's been over a year since, and though I'm pretty satisfied with the services my waxing salon provides, I thought I should give sugaring another go - especially after remembering that sugaring is 100% organic and natural.

I visited the new Barenaked Body Sugaring Salon at Banawe Lifestyle Center before my trip to Hong Kong. To be honest, I was a bit anxious about getting sugared because 1) they're new and 2) I was worried that the sugarist may not have acquired enough experience to do the service/s yet.

But I'm glad I left all my insecurities at home and braved the rain and the traffic to pay them a visit, because I soon discovered that there's really nothing to worry about. The sugarists at Barenaked know what they're doing, and I was definitely in good hands.

Barenaked Body Sugaring Salon in Banawe is open from 12nn to 10pm daily. Since I was going to have multiple services done that afternoon, I went with one of their packages to save a few bucks. I chose Package #3, which includes Eyebrow Shaping, Underarm, and Full Leg Sugaring for Php 880. If I were to get those separately, it would have costed me an extra Php 100 or a total of Php 980.

Here is what the room looks like:

Roselyn started off with my eyebrows. Thank goodness for Roselyn because I so badly need my eyebrows shaped! I plucked them before and they turned out so uneven that even my friends have started noticing. Haha! That's what happens when you play with your kilay, girls. :P

To my surprise, they use the same sugaring process for the brows as with other parts of the body. From previous experience, waxing salons usually resort to threading when it comes to the eyebrows, but at Barenaked, they still use sugar, even though it's more difficult to shape the brows that way.

I really appreciate that how committed they are to using 100% organic mixtures (sugar, water, and lemon juice) and make use of cleansers and toners throughout the whole process so there's less risk of having allergic reactions or getting infected.

Don't worry if it starts getting itchy - that's normal, just try your best not to irritate the area by scratching it. Here are some things to avoid after sugaring:

P.S. All Barenaked sugarists go through a standard one month training (longer if needed). If they're already in the salon, it means they've already mastered the sugaring technique, which extracts the hair in its natural direction of growth resulting to LESS PAINFUL, LESS BREAKAGE, LESS INGROWN HAIR.

Comparing this experience to last year's sugaring sessions, I can definitely say that this was way less painful - in fact, I almost fell asleep at one point! My legs was hair-free, my underarms smoother, and my eyebrows looked more even afterwards!

Thank you to Barenaked Body Sugaring Salon for opening a branch near me! :)
