Last January, Zomato held its first foodie meet-up for the year at The Wholesome Table in Estancia Mall.

The Wholesome Table is an organic restaurant that aims to change the way we eat. Here, they offer the same type of comfort food most of us are used to eating, but they make them with healthier ingredients.

Owned by Bianca Araneta-Elizalde and husband Juan Elizalde, their goal is to share a wholesome experience with diners in the hopes of inspiring them to follow a healthier lifestyle.

They also want to change the way people see organic or healthy food. A lot of us seem to believe that organic food is equivalent to vegetarian or bland food, but that's not always the case.

The Wholesome Table corrects this misconception by offering tasty meat and plant-based comfort food. “I figured Filipinos will enjoy this because they can still have the many dishes that they’re used to eating such as burgers, pork, and pizza but they’re less guilty because they’re coming from good sources and made with better and healthier ingredients,” Bianca Araneta-Elizalde, owner, points out.

I saw this on a show recently and I have been craving for it since. The Wholesome Table's Avocado Toast is made out of ourdough toast, dijon mustard, free-range eggs, avocado, and dukkah spice. I'm so glad that they still offer it even though avocado fruiting season in the Philippines is only from May to September.

Whenever I hear the word "paella", I always think of lots of rice with all kinds of meat on it. The Wholesome Table breaks this stereotype by creating a vegetable paella that consists of saffron caulirice, button mushrooms, asparagus, artichokes, red onion, garlic, roasted pepper, and walnut chorizo.
