Located in Makati Central Business District, Penthouse 8747 is the perfect place for your after-work hangouts, may this be for dinner or drinks.
Penthouse 8747 is a classic lounge inspired by The Great Gatsby era offering an escape from your everyday duties and routines through its great ambiance and exceptional dishes. It isn't just some bar on top of a building. In fact, they have some really great dishes that unfortunately go unnoticed due to the fact that most people just head here to cap off their evenings with some alcohol.
Since I seldom go to Makati, I thought it would be nice to catch up with Mickey at Penthouse. Luckily, the roof deck bar opens at 4pm, so since I was early, I took the opportunity to snap some photos.
I highly recommend it for those seeking a quick break from their hectic schedule or looking to discuss things over good food and drinks.
Though if you can, I would suggest visiting Penthouse 8747 after the sun goes down since that's when you really appreciate all it has to offer - the vibe is totally different at night! You'll see what I mean :)

Jellous Lover
It's not often you'll see me drinking champagne, but I seriously couldn't resist the Jellous Lover. This one has fruit jelly at the bottom of the glass, which makes it ten times more fun to drink. I think I finished this in record time! I loved every sip of this, plus it perfectly goes with any dish, so there's no reason not to order a glass (or two) on your visit!
The Seafood Flat Bread is one of the best I have ever tasted. I loved the toppings Chef Michael Genaro used as well as the texture and flavor of the bread. I think having a good base is really important (maybe even more important than the toppings), and personally, I think Penthouse 8747 got this 100% right!
The Shrimp Pesto with Malunggay was my favorite that evening. I really liked how creamy and thick they created the sauce - a complete 360-degree from other pesto dishes I've tried, which is often oily and lacking in flavor. I guess having malunggay and cream in it helped. I would also recommend squeezing some lemon juice on it as some might find it too heavy or maybe even nakakasuya. It wasn't in my case though.
The Golden Crab Cakes was another surprising dish coming from Penthouse 8747, proving that they are really more than your average bar. I honestly didn't expect to find such delectable dishes here, but this visit just shows that one should never judge a book by its cover. Penthouse 8747 has so much to offer, and their Golden Crab Cakes is one you shouldn't miss!
The three dishes I've featured so far (namely the Seafood Flat Bread, Shrimp Pesto with Malunggay, and Golden Crab Cakes) are all by their new chef, Chef Michael Genaro.
Our final dish of the night was the Mahi Ceviche, an old menu item that Mickey and I so badly wanted to try. I've been finding myself eating a lot of similar dishes recently, and I thought this one had too much acidity. We were told they're planning to overhaul the menu, and the ceviche was one of the dishes that wasn't going to make the cut. I do hope they change their mind because their ceviche has potential, they just need to work on it a bit.
Now that they have Chef Michael to help them with the new menu, expect more delectable and scrumptious dishes that will make you come back for more.
My sister followed us at Penthouse 8747 that evening and ordered her own Jellous Lover to enjoy. She also ended up finishing most of the food, which was surprising since she doesn't normally eat a lot. It just shows how much we all liked the food (and drinks) at Penthouse, plus the wonderful view it offers.
As promised, here's how it looks like at night. Very Great Gatsby, right?
