Osaka Ohsho: New Menu Launch

Because gyoza is life.

As most people know, Osaka Ohsho is my favorite place to get my gyoza fix. I can easily eat twelve pieces in one sitting. Recently, Osaka Ohsho celebrated its third anniversary with something hip, young, and sexy. They've added exciting new twists to our usual Japanese food experience with its new menu that boasts of flavors that encompass traditions and cultures.
Osaka Ohsho
First, here's their newest ramen offering - the Gyoza Tantanmien! It is my understanding that tantanmien is made from a spicy sauce, but Osaka Ohsho's version isn't spicy at all. They might have just toned it down for the event, but it would've been nice to have been asked for our individual preferences as well. No matter, I quite enjoyed having gyoza in my soup, the same way I love wontons!

The Matcha Butter Tonkatsu for me needs a bit more work. It came out a bit dry and kind of powdery. The matcha seemed to have been concentrated on just one area. It's a good idea though, matcha on pork. I definitely commend them for their creativity.

I only got to try a small portion of their Salmon Cheese Aburi, but I'd have to say, I quite liked it. Cheese is such a wonderful ingredient that pretty much anything that contains cheese is delicious. It doesn't hurt that the salmon here is also topped with blow torched Japanese mayonnaise and drizzled with teriyaki sauce. Haha!

The Black Pepper Gyudon is yet another twist that they've added to their menu. If you want more spice that sweet in your gyudon, this is perfect for you!

The Chicken Enokiyaki is basically enoki mushroom wrapped in chicken, grilled to perfection, drizzled with homemade teriyaki sauce. What's not to like?

They've also incorporated some Spanish and European flavors to their dishes. The Truffle Gyoza, Chori Gyoza, and Japanese Paella are perfect examples of this.

The Truffle Gyoza is an umamilicious combination of gyoza meat, truffle, and parmesan cheese topped with furikake, black and white sesame seeds, more parmesan cheese, bonito flakes and finally drizzled with truffle oil. Just wow.

The Chori Gyoza, on the other hand, has Spanish chorizo mixed with the gyoza meat inside. It's then topped with Spanish chorizo bits for added texture and flavor.

They have also created their own version of a Spanish favorite - the paella. Osaka Ohsho's Japanese Paella is Japanese rice cooked in miso, a medley of prawn tempura, salmon, squid, and nori, sprinkled with black and orange tobiko and topped with matcha-mayo. Yum!

You can also elevate your favorite nachos with their take on the classic appetizer - the Nori Nachos. Here, battered nori sheets are deep-fried and topped with gyoza meat, Japanese mayonnaise, furikake, and bonito flakes! It's a new way of enjoying nachos, that's for sure.

I highly suggest you try out Osaka Ohsho's newest offerings, and make sure to let me know what you thought of them, okay? Happy dining!
