Tanabe Japanese Restaurant

If ever you're in the Malate area, here's a Japanese restaurant worth trying.

One random Wednesday as I was about to head home from work, Tim texted me to let me know he was going to ParaƱaque to drop something off for one of his clients. So I, being the amazing girlfriend that I am, decided to accompany him. As my prize (haha), Tim brought me to one of the restaurants he and his friends used to eat at years back.

Random appetizer with potatoes and carrots in light curry sauce

California Roll (P240)
kani stick, shrimp, cucumber, and tobiko
Tanabe
I honestly tried to order a different roll, but the combination of mangoes, kani, and cucumber is a sure win, so I always end up picking it anyway.

Gyudon (P450)
Tanabe
Kind of pricey, but it's legit. They make use of U.S. beef and then top it off with fresh egg yolk to give it more flavor. They served this with miso soup, so that's always a plus.

Chawan Mushi
Japanese steamed egg custard

My favorite! I remember when Saisaki was still the popular buffet place around, I'd eat two or three bowls of this every visit. The Chawan Mushi actually came with Tim's order, and he gave it to me. Awww.
Tanabe
Steak and Prawns (P780)
local tenderloin and prawns
Tanabe
I thought this was a great deal! 780 pesos for a meal with rice, veggies, soup, steak, and prawns!
This is one Japanese restaurant definitely worth visiting.

Tanabe is located at 553 Remedios Street, Malate, Manila.
