FEBRUARY 11, 2014 (UPDATE): Royal Lake Spa officially closed their doors last February 6 (Thursday). To everyone who still haven't claimed their Metrodeal vouchers, you may call their office at (02)823-1955 so they can refund you with Metrodeal credits or through your credit card. Hope this helps! :)
A little over a month ago, a new spa opened along Timog Avenue. What used to be City Lifestyle Spa has been replaced by Royal Lake Spa, which is actually owned by the same people behind Wensha Antipolo. Mike and I were lucky to have been invited to try out their amenities, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! :)
Where most spas only offer relaxation packages, Royal Lake Spa takes it to the next level by adding an eat-all-you can buffet, KTV rooms and a bar - features that families and friends will definitely enjoy bonding over!
With their opening promo of P599, you are given six hours to freely roam around their establishment. You're probably thinking, "Six hours at a spa? that's crazy!" Mike and I thought so too, but at the end of our stay, we were definitely asking for more - more time, that is. A total of six floors make up Royal Lake Spa, so let's go through them, one floor at a time.
Another thing that you can find on the first floor is the bar. They offer Italian food (a la carte) but local beers are available at no additional cost. :)
On weekends, guests can enjoy listening to live bands play on stage. They even encourage the guests to sing with them!
The second floor holds the wet area which is divided into separate sections for male and female. It is where you will find the jacuzzi, steam bath, sauna and showers. Luckily, no one else was there so I took some photos for you to see what the place looks like. :)
I couldn't help comparing this to my experience in a public bath house in Japan (onsen). It was so awkward and embarrassing because we had to be completely naked the entire time! I was really anxious going into this, but in the end, I just went for it. And I'm glad I did, because my time there alone also helped me think about the things that have been going on in my life recently.
Mike's experience, in his own words, was liberating. He spent his time in the wet area with four other guys and even made a friend - Hi, Jess! Unfortunately, their jacuzzi wasn't working at the time, so he just lounged in the cold pool then hung out in the sauna/steam bath.. with his new friend. (I still find it weird that he made a friend with only a towel on..)
Lockers
Jacuzzi / hot and cold aquatic therapy pools :)

Oh, let me just add how much I appreciate Joanna and Christine - the two attendants who checked on me from time to time, just to make sure that I hadn't fainted from the heat yet. ;)
On the third floor is the dining area. Though the options were limited, Mike and I still left with full tummies. They have a salad bar, a shabu-shabu line, and a few other dishes like roasted chicken, pork broccoli, fish fillet with sweet and sour sauce and spaghetti with meatballs :)
A TV screen is set in the dining area so you can watch while you eat :)
Moving on to the fourth and fifth floors - their massage floors.
While they only have common male massage areas, the female area has private rooms. The massage was a combination of swedish and shiatsu, which my therapist, Nina, was able to administer well with the right amount of pressure. She also did something I only saw in a movie once - she walked on my back using the bars attached to the ceiling for support (Ashiatsu massage). While doing so, she kept reminding me to relax and breathe through my mouth to avoid causing damage to my back. It was my favorite part of the massage since she was able to relieve my tension and crack my back a couple of times as well. :)
Finally, onto the sixth floor - the KTV area :)
This is what their smallest room looks like. It has its own restroom and can easily fit 4-6 people.
We sang our hearts out to Adele, High School Musical, Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars, Boyzone, Taylor Swift and more. Mike's an amazing singer and when he sang Adele's Skyfall, I fell in love all over again. I swear he's that good! I am not the least bit ashamed to admit that my boyfriend makes a better Adele than me. Hahaha :)
What's great about their rooms is that after singing to your heart's content (provided you still haven't used up your three hours), you can chill and watch a movie instead! :) Oh and by the way, did I mention that they serve unlimited Antonov vodka here? If you enjoy going to Music Bank or Music 21 then you'll certainly love Royal Lake Spa! :)
That's it for the tour. They are still working on adding more services like foot spa, body scrub and facial that you'll be able to avail at an additional cost, so watch out for that :)
Big thanks to Ms. Oly and Sir Redgie of Royal Lake Spa for accommodating us!

Wow. It looks like you really had a great time there! I would like to go try that out, but I'm not used to go to that area (timog/tomas morato) so I usually go to Wensha spa in Antipolo. I'm just wondering why they (even wensha) don't have private massage room for males. It's a little bit awkward, for me, to have someone else doing a message in the same room. Couldn't get the full relaxation of a massage thinking there's someone else in the room.
ReplyDeletePlease scale your experience from 1 to 10, 10 is the highest. :)

Hi Kevin! I'm not sure, it would be better if they at least had curtains to separate each bed, like Thai massage places. I'm just glad the girls have private rooms. Haha :)
DeleteI give the experience a 9 because the concept is new to me (I've never been to Wensha/City Lifestyle Spa), and I really liked the staff, they were courteous and greeted everyone with a smile. Though I think the place looks a bit bare, it would look better with some decorations, paintings or photos here and there, plus more food options!:) But yeah, we really did have a great time :)
Nice article gurl. Ktv after spa is so cool. But do u really have to be naked in sauna & jacuzzi? I wanna go with my family.
ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks for dropping by! The concept really is something noh? Nakakatuwa. :p Unfortunately, you do have to be naked in the jacuzzi, but you can cover yourself with a towel in the sauna naman :) They have separate areas for male and female, so once you and your mom/sister or dad/brother gets over the seeing-each-other-naked-for-the-first-time part, you're all good. :p
DeleteNice blog!
ReplyDeleteRea :)
Hi Rea! Thank you :)
Deleteyour royal lake spa experience was a lot better than ours. we went there on a friday (Nov 29). we enjoyed the steam bath and warm jacuzzi. my mom and sis were satisfied with the body massage. but i wasn't really happy with my experience with them, maybe i expected too much that i ended up being disappointed. i initially planned to take my mom and sis to wensha timog since i've already been there and i was satisfied with my experience there. but when i saw royal lake spa on metrodeal, i decided to go there instead of wensha. their services were more promising than wensha especially their buffet with salad and pastries, plus resto bar and KTV. that's something that i didn't experience with wensha. but i was disappointed. we went there around 9PM. aside from shabu-shabu, only roasted chicken was available. at mjo my dugo2 pa mukhang minadali.. as in UN LANG.. i thought it was buffet of food, un pla buffet ng mga stainless na lalagyan na walang laman.. :( i asked one of the waiters kung nsan ang salad at pastries kc un tlga ang pinunta ko dun aside from the massage, pro sabi ng waiter, wla daw. depende daw sa time.. so wrong timing pla kmi. another thing was their massage. only 1 therapist was available that time. so pinauna na nmen si mom at sabi tatawagin lng dw ung ibang therapist na nsa basement. patapos na ung ky mom nung dumating ung nxt therapist for my sis. ako since bagong panganak lng, foot massage lng ang pwd but it took me an hour waiting for them, nkatulog pa nga ako kakaantay.. i thought mas mdme ng food after we had our massage, but when we went back to their dining, pancit bihon na lng ang nandun, wla ni isang ulam.. ung KTV ok nman, nag-enjoy sis ko kc xa lng nsa mood kumanta that time, pro nadisappoint din ako kht wla kmi balak mag-inom, kc wla dw available tequilla or vodka so juice lng binigay samen. overall, ang rating ko sa royal lake spa is 4 of 10. paconsuelo na lng dahil khit papano nag-enjoy nman si mom and sis. first time kc nila kya wla pa cla idea about spa. nxt time cgro wensha nman kmi or sna mas mganda na ang services ng royal pra mas dumami pa ang customers nila.
ReplyDeleteHi Macey! Sorry your experience didn't go so well :( Oo nga, baka you guys just came at a bad time. Royal Lake was probably super busy that day because of the influx of people who bought Metrodeal vouchers (plus holiday pa the following day). Basta weekends, for sure maraming tao diyan. As for the buffet, they should really make sure to have food at all times - since they operate 24/7, you can never tell when people will decide to eat.
DeleteShould you decide to give them another chance, try going on a weekday instead (chaka after nung validity ng Metrodeal vouchers) so there will be less people around. :) Good luck!
hi.. how if walk in how much? haha.. i dont want kc metro deal pa gusto ko on the counter nila ako magbabayad pede nmn un db..
ReplyDeletei was confused tuloy if were going to go there pa ba. some says its good others says bad rate 4 out of 10.. since this is my first time to go at spa i want to sure thats place makes us relaxing and money worth.. give me some advise..
Hi Icar! If I remember correctly, the regular price is P998, which is P400 higher than their offer on deal sites.
DeleteI'm not really sure what happened to them. I personally didn't experience any problems during my visit, but I have read a lot of complaints on their Facebook page. I think the management found the number of people visiting at a time too overwhelming (especially since they've been selling vouchers like hotcakes). I'll try to get in touch with them to know more, but for now, I wouldn't recommend visiting them. People wouldn't complain for no reason diba? Being a 24/7 establishment, Royal Lake Spa really needs to make sure that they have food at all times, and enough staff to accommodate their guests. Or maybe they can put a limit the number of guests nalang so they don't end up wasting people's time (when there's not enough food, massage therapists or videoke rooms available).
P.S. This post was created a little over a month from the time they opened. It's been 3 months since, so I'm no position to recommend or comment about the current situation at Royal Lake Spa, especially after reading the comments on their Facebook page. Thanks! :)
Hi! Ano-ano yung included sa P998? Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteHi, it's everything mentioned in the post :)
DeleteHey everyone! We personally visited here. The service is good but not the food. Two of us including me suffered from LBM after eating their old food. So, i do recommend not to try anymore. And i heard the establishment is already closed.
DeleteHi Anonymous! After reading your comment, I actually went there to check, and you're right, they closed last week. Updated my post with that info so people know about it! Thank you for the info :)
Deletethank you for the Info..... We're planning to go there and I was trying to contact them to inquire and nobody answering the phones... so that's it...
ReplyDeleteHi Lorie! Glad to help! :)
Deletethanks po sa info.. we still have 30 vouchers from metrodeal..do i need to give the code through call on all vouchers for filing?
ReplyDeleteHi Ryelark! Nope, no need to give them the codes. But we've recently talked with Metrodeal and they won't replace the vouchers with Wensha ones na daw. They'll just refund you either through Metrodeal credits or your credit card :) I'll update the blog post now!
DeleteP.S. That's a lot of vouchers! Good luck! :)
Deletejune 2014 pa naman ma expired yung vouchers.. hnd pa din papalitam ng wensha?
ReplyDeleteAccording to Wensha, they didn't authorize Metrodeal to replace the Royal Lake vouchers with their vouchers. As of the moment, they don't have any new deals din kaya expired yun nabigay ng Metrodeal kay Mike. I personally would rather get my money back than Wensha vouchers, since aside from being expired, the ones Metrodeal gave Mike were only valid on Mondays-Fridays. :P
Ferdie B.
Hi Catherine! Please call the Metrodeal office regarding this :)
ReplyDeleteKapag sa lake spa mismo binili may refund?
ReplyDeleteOo nga noh, nako, yun ang hindi ko alam. Sorry, can't help you with that one :(
DeleteHi Ferdie, unfortunately wala akong contact sa Royal Lake Spa mismo. Not sure how you can get a refund..
