Lung Hin, Marco Polo Manila

Lung Hin Marco Polo Manila
Check out some of the new and old favorites at Lung Hin, Marco Polo Manila!

I've been to Marco Polo Manila many times before, but more often than not, it's to eat at Cucina (I also had a grand time during my visit to Connect Lounge and Vu's Sky Lounge). Last week was my first visit to Lung Hin, their Cantonese restaurant located at the 44th level of the hotel. I've heard many good things about it from friends, so when Marco Polo Manila sent me an invite to try out their specialties, I was psyched.

Lung Hin features contemporary Chinese flare offering traditional and authentic Cantonese food and fresh seafood made by its very own Hong Kong Chefs. And this January, Marco Polo Manila introduces a new menu that is set to excite the senses, transporting diners to Hong Kong through the fine art of Cantonese cuisine cooking.

Lung Hin recently received the award for one of the most outstanding Chinese restaurants outside of China at the 16th China Hotel Industry Golden Horse Awards Gala organized by All-China Federation of Industry & Commerce. This award symbolizes the highest recognition, often considered as the "Oscar" in hotel industry.

The new selection, together with the classics with its new a la carte menu, was created from the 36 years of experience of Chinese Executive Chef Lai Cheuk Koi (also known as Chef Terry) from different well-known restaurants and hotels around China and Hong Kong.

Steamed Shrimp Dumplings with Gold Leaf

Dimsum - always a favorite!

Peking Duck with Osmanthus Jelly on Potato Chip
Lung Hin Marco Polo Manila
I really liked this as it had various textures to it and the duck skin was really crunchy.

Sautéed Tiger Shrimp Ball in Supreme Chicken Stock
Lung Hin Marco Polo Manila
This is one huge piece of shrimp! I thought the soup wasn't the usual chicken stock in the sense that it's thicker, kind of like pumpkin soup. I enjoyed it though.

Double-Boiled Chicken with Red Dates and Wolfberry Soup
Lung Hin Marco Polo Manila
A lighter dish compared to the previous one, with generous servings of chicken and dates.

Pan-Fried Grouper Fillet with Truffle Oil and Sugar Peas
Lung Hin Marco Polo Manila
This turned out to be one of favorites; I thought the fish was really flavorful (and not dry at all) despite its appearance.

Braised South African Abalone with Hong Kong Dried Sausage with Waxed Meat Fried Rice
Lung Hin Marco Polo Manila
One of the highlights of the meal - it is believed that abalones are coupled with multiple health benefits as it is good for the immune system, eyes, liver, kidneys, and used as additional therapy for cancer. Get the Braised Whole Australian Abalone with Supreme Oyster Sauce in 6 heads at Php 1,200 per piece. Or the Braised Whole South African Dried Abalone with Supreme Oyster Sauce in 12 heads for Php 2,088 per piece. Available from January 22 to February 28, 2018

Pan-Fried Crispy Egg Noodle with Prawn Ball and Minced Pork
Lung Hin Marco Polo Manila
This had a good balance of prawns and pork. I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce and the crispy noodles; I think I had two servings of this.

Pan-Fried Two Flavoured Chinese New Year Cake
Lung Hin Marco Polo Manila
I'm a huge fan of tikoy so I ate this up pretty fast.

Finish off your meal with Marco Polo's Signature Earl Grape Iced Tea!

What Lung Hin has that sets it apart from the usual Chinese restaurants in the metro is the complete dining experience it offers. The sleek interiors, the expansive layout, the amazing view, the exceptional service, and the note-worthy dishes are just top-notch.
