The "Pyoor" way for anti-aging!
Two weeks ago, I dropped by Pyoor Spa along Sct. Fuentebella to try their 24k Gold Organic Mask Facial. Since I'm getting married in a month, I need all the pampering I can get! But I don't just go to any spas. I still pick ones that have good reputations and make use of quality products. Pyoor is one of those establishments because the products they use (and sell) are all-natural, all-organic, and guaranteed safe and effective using ayurveda (ancient Indian medical system) and science. It's actually pretty interesting.
Pyoor Spa opened last December offering services like body sculpting, face slimming, facials, threading, waxing, and massages. The spa is owned by Pyoor Essentials International Inc., a skincare and wellness company specializing in creating pure (pyoor), organic, natural, safe, and effective skin care products that are Cruelty-Free and do not contain hazardous ingredients to our skin and environment.
I was actually kind of hesitant at first since I remembered my last facial being really painful, especially around the nose! I have a lot of blackheads and blackheads extraction hurts like hell. I remember tearing up and telling myself that there's no way I'm doing this again any time soon. I think that was about three or four years ago.

Fast forward to today, well, let's just say my priorities have changed. Haha. I've been taking care of my skin a lot more and even trying different products to potentially delay aging. I've also been using makeup more often, though I've learned that most makeup products have harmful chemicals in them, so I might have to think twice about that.
I also grabbed the opportunity to meet with my friend Karla who I haven't seen in a while. She really made the whole experience fun and light.
Here are the main products used in the 24k Gold Organic Mask Facial: bar soap, jelly mask, essence, and night gel. The set is available for purchase at Php 7,999, but if you just want to go for facial, it will cost you Php 1,800 (introductory price until May 31, 2019. Regular price: P2,500).

To start, Ms. Jackie gave me a face/head massage and combed my hair, which was pretty relaxing.
Next, she washed my face using 24k Gold Soap and applied an organic scrub made from coconut to exfoliate the dead skin cells.
She then placed a warm towel on my face and left me with the steam machine for about 15 minutes. Here comes the fun part - the vacuum. They have this vacuum that sucks all that whiteheads and blackheads on your face. It didn't hurt one bit; I actually quite liked it. Haha!
The high frequency machine also helps bring the skin back to normal and sterilizes it so that bacteria doesn't penetrate your skin.

Afterwards, the pricking began. It hurt but it wasn't as painful as I remembered it to be, so that was good. Plus, it helped that Ms. Jackie had such light hands. The pricking focused more around the nose, chin, and forehead since that's where most of my blackheads are located. I was so happy when she finished and turned on the high frequency machine. I looked it up and this is what I found: During the high frequency treatment, enriched oxygen molecules are produced which have an anti-bacterial action as well as a "natural" thermal tissue warming. That reaction causes a natural contraction of underlying blood vessels and in tiny muscle groups which push away toxins, while the cells in your skin are enriched with nutrients and hydrating volume. This in turn creates an increase in blood circulation and cell renewal that aids in the support of increased levels of collagen and elastin. Almost done! Onto the 24k Gold Jelly Mask with Amazonian clay, grapeseed oil, bio enzyme plus powder, vitamin C powder, and 24k gold powder (yes, all products in this set have real 24k gold powder in them)
It's supposed to enhance exfoliation of the skin, refine and smoothen, helps shrink pores, hydrates the skin and protects it against moisture loss and oxidation damage. I think this could be really effective with regular use, but one time is definitely not enough. If you're planning to purchase your own set, all you have to do is pour this in a clean bowl and add 10ml of water, mix, then apply evenly on face. Leave it on for 30 minutes and use 2-3x a week for best results.
After washing off the mask (yes, we're still not done haha), she then moved onto the galvanic facial with the 24k Gold Essence.
Skin therapists call this procedure a ‘non-surgical facelift’ that gives you youthful skin without having to undergo any surgical procedure or poke needles into it. It involves using a low-level current to infuse medication into your skin. In other words, a galvanic facial uses medium-amperage direct current to stimulate your skin cells, soften your skin, and drive medicines or creams deep into the layers of your skin. We had to skip using the 24k Gold Evening Gel since they said it should only be used before going to bed. So they used a different cream, one with a thick consistency.
