Always a favorite!
I got my first taste of Mama Lou's in 2015 and I've loved it ever since. Sometimes, I even find myself craving for their Truffle Mac and Cheese or the Risotto Tartufo Funghi! It's so great that they're now opening more branches around the metro! :)

Just a few months ago, Mama Lou's opened its doors at Ayala Malls The 30th in Pasig. Lately, I've been finding myself there quite often as it has a number of good restaurants, including Gringo, Genki Sushi, Ramen Nagi, Toast Asian Kitchen, The Halal Guys, and well, of course, Mama Lou's! (P.S. Ayala The 30th is also where we did our food trip episode for PopTalk!

As always, they started us off with their complimentary bread with pesto and marinara dip. It's always good when restaurants offer free starters to keep you entertained as you wait for your orders to arrive.

Clam Chowder (P185) and Roasted Garlic Soup

The Clam Chowder has a thick and creamy consistency to it which I love, while the Roasted Garlic has just the right amount of garlic so it doesn't come out as too overpowering.

Insalata Caprese (P250)

I honestly did not expect to like this so much but I did. It's a beautiful dish that combines the many different textures and flavors of the fresh salad tomatoes, carabao's milk, kesong puti, evoo and balsamic glaze.

If truffle's your thing, you'll be glad to know that Mama Lou's planning on coming out with their own version of a truffle cream mushroom pasta. Yes, this one's not yet on the menu, but you should definitely try it once it's available!
Garlic and Cheese Pizza (P275 / P375)

This may be the simplest pizza flavor they have on the menu, but it's one of my favorites. The mozzarella, garlic, and parmesan cheese topped with alfalfa sprouts and arugula leaves are just perfect, especially when eaten together in one bite!
Arrabbiata (P295)

Having over 20 pasta dishes to choose from can be overwhelming, so I'm glad Mama Lou's picked the ones we were to try that day, otherwise I probably would've gone with my usual Truffle Mac and Cheese. Their Arrabbiata turned out to be one of the best pasta dishes I have ever tried! It comes with sun dried tomatoes, oregano, and chili and was the perfect mix of sour and spicy! I love it!!
Italian Sardine Pasta (P275)

Another pasta dish we enjoyed was their take on the sardine pasta. I like how theirs didn't come out dry and is loaded with wild caught sardines, garlic, and basil!
For the risotto, we got to try the black and buttered versions.
Risotto al Nero

Buttered Risotto

I honestly enjoyed them both, but if I'd have to pick one, I would go for the al Nero just because it has more contrast in flavor. As much as I like how creamy the Buttered Risotto was, I don't think I'll be able to eat too much of it since it can be nakaka-umay. Just a few bites of it is enough, so it's really good to share.

Onto the mains:
Chicken Fra Diavalo (P390)

Oven roasted chicken with just the right amount of spice to it! Though this one is already flavored with rosemary, garlic, oregano, and chili in extra virgin olive oil, I still enjoy dousing mine in gravy for that added taste!
Marbled Rib Eye Steak (P695)

Mama Lou's also offers really affordable steak! Would you believe this one's only Php 695? It's imported from Australia and is really, really, really tender! I wouldn't mind having this again.. and again..

As always, I had an awesome time, Mama Lou's. Congratulations on your new branch! :)

Mama Lou's is located at Ayala Malls The 30th, Meralco Avenue, Ugong, Pasig City.
