You all know how much I enjoy eating and trying new dishes, but did you know I also love to travel? I love being able to explore new places and take photos of the different sights around me. But the best thing of all is when you're able to combine the things you love - in my case, food and travel - and turn it into a fun weekend trip with some of your best gal pals!
Last month, Best Western Plus Hotel Subic invited us to try the newest dishes at Spencer's Gastro Pub as well as take a relaxing break from our busy schedules in the city. We took the next flight out via Air Juan and found ourselves in Subic in just 20 minutes!
Spencer's Gastro Pub is one of two Best Western Plus Hotel Subic in-house restaurants - the other being Fortune Hong Kong Seafood Restaurant. We got first dibs on their newest dishes (to be launched end of September), and what better way to do that than with a party in one of the hotel's function rooms?
It was a night filled with laughter and stories over wine and really good food.

I love Japanese food, so we're definitely off to a great start, Spencer's!
House Salad
Caesar Salad
For the salads, you really get to appreciate the fresh greens mixed in with their house-made dressings I highly recommend the House Salad with a generous serving of avocados!
Pumpkin Soup
Wild Mushroom Soup
For the soup, go for either the Pumpkin Soup which has roasted pumpkin drizzled with chive oil or the Wild Mushroom Soup with sautéed button and shiitake mushrooms, sour cream, and parsley!
Pulled Pork Quesadillas
One of the evening's favorites is the Pulled Pork Quesadillas! Slow cooked pork, refried beans and cheddar served with fresh tomato salsa and crema - I'm drooling just thinking about it!
King Fish Ceviche
If you want something that has that perfect balance of sweet, sour, and spicy, the King Fish Ceviche is a must try.
Stuffed Potato Skins
The moment they placed this on the table, we already knew we were going to love it! Just look at all that cheese on top of the baked potato filled with chili con carne and bacon! These Stuffed Potato Skins are also served with sour cream and tomato aioli on the side for added flavor!
Classic Carbonara
If pasta is what you're looking for, you might just enjoy their take on the Classic Carbonara that's served with freshly baked breads!
Chef's Triple Cheese Burger
How about an all-beef patty with gruyere, cheddar, and mozzarella cheeses, served with salad and fries? Now that's what I call a great burger! ;)
Chicken Sandwich
I also enjoyed this not-so-ordinary Chicken Sandwich that's made from battered chicken fillet served on a bun with red cabbage slaw and spicy mayo. I love the sauces they used for this one and would totally order this again when I visit!
Poached Salmon
Perfectly cooked salmon served with summer vegetables and hollandaise sauce!
Spencer's Beef Tips
We couldn't get enough of Spencer's Beef Tips! The meat is tender and flavorful and I just loved that they served it with crushed potatoes, spinach, and mushroom sauce! It's pretty much a meal on its own!
Chicharon Kawali
Your traditional crispy pork belly deep fried to perfection. What's not to love?
Blackened Mahi Mahi
Have some fish while you're at it. Here's their grilled Cajun style mahi-mahi served with sautéed spinach, garlic rice, and mango salsa.
Brownie ala Mode

Philly-Style Cheesecake
house-made cheesecake served with whipped cream and fruits in season
For dessert, I completely fell in love with both the Brownie ala Mode and Philly-Style Cheesecake! They each had the right flavors to them, not overly sweet, so there's no doubt I can finish either in one sitting! Haha!
