Which one is your #FavoriteRamen?
In celebration of Philippines-Japan Friendship Month, Ramen Nagi releases three limited edition ramen bowls - Manila Kings - this July! Why Manila Kings, you ask? Well, it's because these ramen bowls are inspired by some of our favorite Filipino dishes namely the Binagoongan, Bicol Express, and Cheesy Caldereta!
I visited their store at Ayala Malls the 30th to try out the Manila Kings!
First up, we have the Binagoongan King, which was made available from July 1-10, 2017. A fusion of traditional ramen and locally flavored bagoong, drenched with tonkotsu broth and served with seered eggplant, tomato, and green chili.
Here, you'll find a hint of spice and coconut cream, as well as slices of fried pork belly. I know it sounds weird, but I'm actually glad I gave this one a shot because it turned out to be my favorite of the three. The flavor is definitely on point - it's exactly how I want my binagoongan to taste like!
Second is the Bicol Express King. Their tonkotsu broth is flavored with spicy chili in rich coconut milk, topped with crispy deep fried pork belly and slices of red and green chili.
Out of the three, this was the one I was most excited for because I'm personally all about the coconut milk (gata). Bicol express always come with a lot of sauce, but I thought the tonkotsu broth made it richer and thicker. Aside from that, you get to enjoy it with noodles - instead of rice - so it's already a complete meal in a bowl.
The Bicol Express King is available from July 11 to 20, 2017.
To finish off the celebration, Ramen Nagi came up with the Cheesy Caldereta King. Available starting today (July 21) until the end of the month (July 31)! Enjoy this delicious fusion ramen with thick caldereta sauce made of stewed pork, tomato sauce, and spices.
It's perfect for those who love the tomato-based dish because it has all the usual toppings like sweet pepper, potatoes, and carrots, plus lots of grated cheese for that creamy goodness!
Aside from the ramen, I made sure to order some gyoza as well!
Ramen Nagi's gyoza is definitely the real deal! I wish they'd offer the three flavors - cheese, garlic, and perilla - in all their branches. As of now, you can only find them at Ramen Nagi, Signa Residences, Makati.
Have you tried any of the Manila Kings? Which one's your favorite?
Capped off the night with Nagi Vanilla Ice Cream which serves as the perfect palate cleanser! ;)
Until next time, Ramen Nagi! ;)
