Enjoy Barcino's monthly Wine and Tapas Night at Ayala Malls the 30th!
Last month, Tim and I spent a beautiful evening at Barcino's newest branch in Ayala Malls the 30th. We got a taste of Coastal Spain - premium seafood paired with the best wines by Martin Codax - all for one night only!
We started off with generous amounts of cold cuts and cheese - the Nico Jamon Serrano, Nico Chorizo Iberico, and Manchego Semicurado. I couldn't get enough of the cheese and chorizo iberico! Yum!

Mejillones Pipirrana
cold mussels topped with vegetables
This is the first time I've had cold mussels, and I'm surprised it went really well with the vegetables!
Gambas al Ajillo
prawns in spicy garlic olive oil
This is one of their best sellers at Barcino, and I'm glad I got to enjoy it that night!
Sopa de Pescado
Mediterranean seafood soup with prawn, mussels, clams, and squid
If you are a true seafood fan, you will love this one! It's a bowl filled with all sorts of seafoods with a light base. I had to share mine with Tim because he enjoyed it so much haha!
bacalao in Northern Spain style
This dried salted cod fish was one of my favorites that evening. I like that they topped it with potato strips and included a side of bread in every plate. I couldn't help but scoop up all the remaining sauce onto it!
Txangurro al Horno
crab in basque style
The txangurro or better known as spider crab was pretty heavy on the flavor, which was perfect because it went really well with wines. I enjoyed the Godello Mara Martin (white wine) the most, while Tim couldn't stop with the Pizzaras de Otero (red wine).
They also offered the Cuatro Pasos Rosado (rosé wine), but at that point, I really didn't want to drink too much as I was driving home afterwards.
What's so great about Barcino's wine and tapas night is that you can have unlimited wine to go with your meal - all this for Php 2,300 per person, if I remember correctly.
Tarta de Santiago
sponge almond cake
Lastly, dessert. I'm not actually sure if we were supposed to drink or pour this one over the cake, but I found it kind of sweet, so perhaps better not to consume it straight.
It's nothing I've ever tried before. It's more nutty than sponge and filled with cinnamon and powdered sugar, and I loved every single bite! I also finished Tim's portion of the cake (lucky for me he doesn't like cinnamon haha).
Yet another memorable Barcino date night - do check out our dining experience at Barcino, City Golf Plaza as well. This is definitely becoming one of our favorite restaurants for affordable yet romantic meals in the city.
Barcino is located at the second floor of Ayala Malls The 30th, Meralco Avenue, Pasig City.
