For my first ever Yelp event, I joined the Yelp Brunch Club at Pi Breakfast and Pies at The Grove by Rockwell. We ordered a number of their bestselling dishes like the Eggs Sammy, Wagyu Beef Sirloin Tapa, Caramelized Spam, and Pinoy Breakfast Platter. We also made sure to leave room for their cakes and pies - I mean, that's what they're known for, right? We got the following: Espresso Toffee, Orange and Lime, Smack Pie, Sugar-free Honey Pear Parmesan, Peanut Butter Honeycomb, Smores. It's funny how we ended up with more cakes and pies than real food, just shows how we all love desserts. The event was really more about hanging out and meeting new people than anything, but when has that ever stopped me from taking photos anyway? Haha
Eggs Sammy (P275)
salmon gravlax, five-minute eggs, English muffin, asparagus, dill hollandaise, and spiced shoestring potato fries
Caramelized Spam (P265)
served with garlic fried rice, kimchi, five-minute egg, pesto, and scallions
Ultimate Bacon Rice (P365)
with scrambled egg and bacon jam
Wagyu Beef Sirloin Tapa (P255)
served with garlic kimchi fried rice, five-minute egg, and atchara
Big Breakfast Platter
Hungarian, Italian & Pinoy dinuguan sausages, roasted shiitake & button mushrooms, sunny-side-up eggs, potato fries, toasted brioche breads, bacon strips, pork & beans, and roasted tomatoes
My favorite used to be the tapa - well at least that's what I'd always order at their Malingap branch. For some reason though, the tapa at this branch is sweeter, so now, I have a new favorite - the Caramelized Spam! Sure, it's still sweet, but at least it's intentional, not compared to the tapa. I think tapa is better when sour (and served with a side of vinegar), so yeah.
Onto dessert!
Peanut Butter Honeycomb (P215/slice)
chocolate fudge, peanut butter cream, honeycomb, coco banana milk biscuit crust
Smores (P145/slice)
homemade marshmallow, chocolate fudge, graham crust
Sugar-Free Honey Pear Parmesan (P195)
pear, honey syrup, parmesan cheese
Orange and Lime (P145)
orange, lime, cream, graham crust
Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of their Smack Pie. It's their version of Momofuku Milk Bar's bestseller and I absolutely loved it! It's P125 a slice, the cheapest among all the cakes/pies we've tried, but for me, it's the best one (followed by Orange and Lime, Peanut Butter Honeycomb, Smores, then lastly, Sugar-free Honey Pear Parmesan).
