Want a change from the usual Chinese restaurants along Banawe? Then check Oedo out!
For my sister's birthday last May, we dined at Oedo Japanese Restaurant near Banawe.
If I'm not mistaken, this is the first authentic Japanese restaurant in the area.
We arrived before 6pm on a Saturday and immediately, we were led to their second floor since the tables on the first floor were either already occupied or reserved.
I love how they decorated the place, it really has that Japanese feel to it, especially because of the paintings and the random displays on the wall.
Also, they have the cutest teapot! I want one for my room!
Uni Sashimi (P260)
My dad was so happy that they had fresh uni available. It's that one dish he always orders for himself (just because no one else in our family likes it).
Oedo Salad (P260)
Honestly not sure what's in this, we only ordered it because it had the restaurant's name in it, so it had to be good. And it was!
Oedo Maki (P300)
crabstick, cucumber, unagi
My new favorite maki! It contains crabsticks, cucumber, cream cheese, and unagi. The tempura bits on top was a nice touch too!
Shake Onigiri (P85)
I know it looks really disappointing, but don't be fooled. There's salmon inside too!
Gyu Don (P280)
beef rice bowl
I think when it comes to Japanese restaurants, Gyudon is one of those no-brainer dishes since it's always delicious. It's for those times when you don't feel like looking through the entire menu or trying something new.
Agedashi Tofu (P180)
deep fried tofu with dashi sauce
It's okay. I thought it was a bit pricey for a few pieces of tofu.
Takoyaki (P100)
These octopus balls are the bomb! The fact that they topped it with bonito flakes makes it even more delicious, in my opinion. I'm glad they didn't scrimp out on it.
Okonomi Yaki (P260 / P280)
Japanese savory pancake
I think they didn't mix this well enough because some parts were all batter, but I did like the parts that had everything in it. Though I have to say, I like Dohtonbori's Okonomiyaki better.
Mixed Yakitori (P350)
8 pieces assorted sticks
I only had a few bites of this, and the ones I got to try were a bit dry.
Mixed Yasai Tempura (P210)
I'm not a huge fan of shrimp tempura, let alone tempura with vegetables in them. Haha! My family liked this though! :P
Ankake Ramen
This reminded me of the mami my mom cooks at home sometimes. It's starch-based broth with thick noodles and seafood. It's very different from the ramen dishes I've tried before, I'm still not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
Zaru Soba (P200)
When my sister and I saw this on the menu, we just had to order it. We first tried it on one of our flights years back, and immediately fell in love with it. All you have to do is dip the cold soba noodles into the broth, but don't forget to add the raw quail egg, spring onions, and some wasabi before eating it!
Oedo is located at 105 Santo Domingo corner Sgt. Alcaraz Avenue, Quezon City.
