Beyond Manila Bites: Mama Lou's

Here's the second event of the Beyond Manila Bites food crawl series: Global Meets Local! The event was held at UP Town Center where we featured EIGHT of the metro's international and local best comfort food stores!

Last August 13, 2016, Global Meets Local brought together people from different fields of the food industry and other influencers for a whole day food celebration at UP Town Center! Through this series, ForkSpoonManila (Alexis Manuel Deocaris) overhauled the traditional food crawl where the media and influencers can share their experiences and impressions regarding the food, through of course, social media. During the event, we not only got to socialize with each other, but more importantly, we met a lot of the people behind these restaurants and discovered the stories behind their dishes and store concepts.

For me, the event was also a great way to sharpen my photography skills. Even though people were technically taking pictures of the same dishes, all our photos came out so differently! So yes, I definitely learned a few things from people like Cy Ynares (@thebaldbakerph), Iza Gallego (@iza.gram), Mark and Bianca Tan (@eatsplorations), JP Gonzaga (@chubbyperohappy), and Lucky Alabado (@discovermnl)! Check out the posts on Instagram tagged #BeyondManilaBites to see for yourself :)
Mama Lou's
Mama Lou's Italian Kitchen is a casual dining restaurant that serves authentic Italian dishes. They started 6 years ago in their two-storey home in BF Homes. The restaurant is named after their late mama, Malou, who was a passionate and brilliant home cook.

We got to try a couple of their bestsellers namely the Mozzarella Sticks, Risotto Tartufo Funghi, Mama Lou's Special, Marbled Rib Eye Steak, Truffle Mac and Cheese, Spaghetti Seafood Olio, as well as some new dishes like the Mushroom Chicharon and Vesuvio.

I'll have to admit, this isn't my first time at Mama Lou's. My first visit was in October 2015 - I loved Mama Lou's then, I still love it now. You can check out my review here.
