Here's the second event of the Beyond Manila Bites food crawl series: Global Meets Local! The event was held at UP Town Center where we featured EIGHT of the metro's international and local best comfort food stores - starting with IHOP!
Last August 13, 2016, Global Meets Local brought together people from different fields of the food industry and other influencers for a whole day food celebration at UP Town Center! Through this series, ForkSpoonManila (Alexis Manuel Deocaris) overhauled the traditional food crawl where the media and influencers can share their experiences and impressions regarding the food, through of course, social media. During the event, we not only got to socialize with each other, but more importantly, we met a lot of the people behind these restaurants and discovered the stories behind their dishes and store concepts.
For me, the event was also a great way to sharpen my photography skills. Even though people were technically taking pictures of the same dishes, all our photos came out so differently! So yes, I definitely learned a few things from people like Cy Ynares (@thebaldbakerph), Iza Gallego (@iza.gram), Mark and Bianca Tan (@eatsplorations), JP Gonzaga (@chubbyperohappy), and Lucky Alabado (@discovermnl)! First established in Toluca Lake, California, in 1958, IHOP or the International House of Pancakes serves a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items loved by people of all ages. Although their world-famous Buttermilk Pancakes made them a global icon, their wide range of deliciously fresh and made to order food coupled with their warm, friendly, and intuitive service all work together towards fulfilled their promise of Spreading Happiness to each and every one of their guests.
For now, let me leave you with some of the snaps I took at IHOP Restaurant - the first out of eight stops that day. What we had: New York Cheesecake Pancakes, Double Blueberry Pancakes, Chicken Florentine Crepes, Bacon Temptation Omelette, Bacon Topped Chicken Breast with Potato Hash, Waffle Burger, BBQ Liempo, Chicken Parmesan with Pasta, Cajun Tilapia, Tuna Melt, and Strawberry Basil Smoothie.
