Poco Deli, Bonifacio Global City

Wine and dine with your friends at the newly opened Poco Deli in BGC!

The story: Joy and Sonny de Leon, the chef and the charcuterie maker behind Poco Deli. Joy kicked off her prominent culinary career with baking and eventually perfecting her signature dish, the Blackout Chocolate Cake. Sonny, raised on a ranch, learned the process and fundamentals of hand crafting bacon and hams throughout his childhood. Many moons, food trips, adventures, and taste tests later, the couple opened Poco Deli in 2008 – a manifestation of family recipes and their passion for authentic European cuisine. The word “poco” in Italian translates to “little”, as the restaurant’s first branch was just that – a cozy, little deli.

Fast forward eight years later, Poco Deli opens its third branch located at One Parkade in Bonifacio Global City. Even after all the expansions - from Kapitolyo to Ayala Triangle to BGC - Poco Deli remains to be a family brand, but with some additions, because Sonny and Joy’s kids are also doing their part to help out with the business now.

But yeah, more than being a restaurant, Poco Deli is still your little deli - a place where you can come and purchase artisanal sausages and meats to eat at home. During our visit, I actually noticed that a lot of people came in just to pick up items from the delicatessen.

There is a wide-range to choose from, so I suggest keeping a couple of these in your freezer handy for those days when you want to stay in, but still want to have a fancy night with someone special. ;)
Poco Deli
They're also great to have for when you're hosting small gatherings in your home. You're guaranteed that everyone will like them, because, well, they're sausages. What's not to like?
Poco Deli
Aside from the meats, Poco Deli also sells items like pâté, sauer kraut, and wine in store.
Poco Deli
I don't think this photo even covers half of their wine selection!
Poco Deli
There's really a lot to choose from. I'm not even going to pretend to be an expert on the subject, so let's leave it at that! Haha!
Poco Deli
But seriously, there are so many types of wines out there, I wouldn't even know where to start.
Poco Deli
One thing's for sure though -  I prefer red wine to white! Haha! What about you? :)
Poco Deli
Personally, I think that this place is perfect for any event. Whether it's a team meeting, a birthday lunch, or a romantic dinner, Poco Deli would make a great choice!
Poco Deli
They even have a private room available for when you want to make your events more intimate.
Poco Deli
Since Poco Deli imports a number of its meats, it's important to have a curing room for the purposes of preserving the flavor, color, and the texture of the meat.
Poco Deli
Here, they not only make their own sausages, but they smoke their own bacon, serve fancy cheeses, and offer the best wines to go with them!
Poco Deli
To start, I highly recommend going for either their Sausage and Cheese or the Cold Cuts and Cheese platter, or you know, both.

The Sausage and Cheese (P500 / P750) features their kielbasa, nurnberger, and chicken sausages. For the cheeses, it has gorgonzola, grana padano, and pecorino.
Poco Deli
The Cold Cuts and Cheese Platter (P480 / P750) has prosciutto di parma, salami milano, and napoli picante, while its cheeses include grana padano, manchego, and gorgonzola.
Poco Deli
If you're not familiar with everything on the platter, then this is your chance to learn more about food.
Poco Deli
So don't be shy to ask the staff if you're not familiar with a certain item.

But if you’re more about the sausages, then you should order the Sausage Sampler (P500 / P750) which highlights their kielbasa, bratwurst, nurmberger, and chicken sausages!
Poco Deli
What’s great about Poco Deli’s artisanal sausages is that they have no preservatives. They are also house-made in small batches, so there’s strict quality control on everything that goes out of the kitchen.
Poco Deli
If you’re looking for something heavier, Poco Deli also offers various meats that come with two eggs and rice. Must try: Bacon Slabs, Meat Loaf, Corned Beef Chunks, and Smoked BBQ Ribs!
Poco Deli
Bacon Slabs (P280 / P400)
French pork belly, wood smoked
Poco Deli
Meat Loaf (P400)
German style, all meat, gluten-free
Poco Deli
Corned Beef Chunks (P480)
German style, cut into chunks
Poco Deli
Poco Deli
Smoked BBQ Ribs (P280 / P480)
French pork ribs, braised, grilled barbecue sauce
Poco Deli
Out of the four dishes we got to try, my favorite is definitely the Bacon Slabs. I don't normally eat the fat, but I just couldn't resist this one. There's just so much flavor in them! I'd totally eat this over bacon strips any day!
Poco Deli
End your meal with a slice of their signature Blackout Chocolate Cake (P220/slice). It is made with the finest Valrhona chocolates from France and topped with Belgian chocolates. The recipe has been in Joy’s family for generations, so it’s not something you can find anywhere else. The Blackout is moist with just the right amount of sweetness – order a cup of coffee too while you’re at it!
Poco Deli
But if chocolate’s not your thing, you can always try the Blueberry New York Cheesecake, Sansrival, White Mountain, or Red Velvet Cake!
