I joined the second leg of the Zomato x Citi Food Run with The Bistro Group last week at Greenbelt and SM Mall of Asia. We featured a total of six restaurants that afternoon namely Krazy Garlik, Tonkatsu by Terazawa, Fish and Co., Bulgogi Brothers, Modern Shanghai, and TGI Fridays.
I loved how Modern Shanghai looked. It was simple yet elegant at the same time.
My favorite spot is the round tables since they have their own light fixtures hanging from the ceiling.
I think, out of all the restaurants we tried that day, I most excited about this one since I love Chinese food, especially dimsum! Angelica and I squealed when we saw black vinegar on our table because that just meant we were going to be eating some Xiao Long Bao, and we were right!

How amazing is this? Just by looking at these photos - you don't even need to zoom in - you can already see how much broth is inside each dumpling! That's really what Xiao Long Bao is about, so I hate it when the broth seeps out of them before even reaching the table because you lose so much flavor. Dip it in some black vinegar for that final touch!
Their premium siumai is made with 50% shrimp and 50% pork. A lot of restaurants serve this, but the quality is never the same. Modern Shanghai's version even contains three kinds of pork in it - pork leg meat, pork collar and pork fat. I thought it was juicier than most I've tried before, and you even get a whole shrimp on every piece!
Steamed Buns with Preserved Egg Yolk Paste (P158)
Gaah, I don't even know where to begin with this one. It is SO DELICIOUS. It was just a bit difficult to eat because there's so much salted egg paste inside.. but I guess that's really a good problem to have. When you bite into it, you know there's real salted egg in there, that they didn't scrimp out on anything. I thought it was really affordable too, and with Citibank's newest promo, you can even get 30% off on Modern Shanghai's starters, buns, and dumplings from August 15 to September 15, 2016! Sobrang sulit!! Just make sure to use your Citi card to avail of the promo, okay?? :)
