The last stop for the food run is Sugarhouse in Glorietta! I've never been to Sugarhouse before, so imagine my surprise when I found out that they've actually been around since 1983! It just goes to show how much people like their products - enough for them to still be open after 33 years! I mean, Sugarhouse is even older than I am!
They had us try their numerous pastry selections - from cakes to silvanas to yema balls. It was like we were in dessert heaven!
They started us off with the Marjolaine (P1,300). It's a lighter, chocolate version of the sans rival. Each of the four layers of meringue is brushed with chocolate then held together with whipped cream, topped with more chocolate and garnished with chopped cashew.
Next, we had with the Honey Cake (P800), which is vanilla chiffon filled with light butter cream then abundantly sprinkled with honey crunch. It was most definitely my favorite out of all the cakes we got to try that night.

The Concorde (P695) consists of three layers of vanilla chiffon filled with light othello chocolate mousse playfully covered with chocolate meringue sticks. It's a combination of different textures that's definitely a favorite among kids and kids at heart!
For chocolate lovers, this Chocolate Truffle (P850) is for you. It is THE ultimate chocolate experience - chocolate chiffon cake filled and iced with chocolate butter cream with a slight tinge of coffee. It is Sugarhouse's number 1 best-selling cake, so you can't go wrong with it!
My other favorite would be their Almond Sans Rival (P950) It's crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle! Filled with delicious layers of cashew meringue and butter cream topped generously with sliced almonds, it's definitely heaven in every bite.
I cooled off with a glass of their Iced Cafe Latte (P90) which I thought complemented the cakes really well. Nowadays, even mall airconditioning isn't enough, so this is a good way to beat the heat. I'm definitely ordering this again on my next visit!
If cake's not your thing, they also have other sweets available, like these yema balls, silvanas, and cream puffs.
If you still haven't gotten mom a cake for mother's day, Sugarhouse actually has an ongoing promo with Citibank! Use your Citi Card for a minimum dine-in or take-out bill of P800 and you get 25% off the total amount! Promo is valid until July 31, 2016 ;)
Sugarhouse is located at Second Floor, Glorietta 3, Ayala Center, Glorietta Complex, Makati City
