Zomato Food Run: ArroZeria

After enjoying the delicious deep fried shrimps at Shrimp Bucket, we headed to ArroZeria to try their specialties next!
Arrozeria
ArroZeria opened their first branch at Century City Mall in 2014. Their second branch, the one we went to, just opened four months ago.

For starters, we had the complimentary Lengua Salpicao and Romesco Bread Crumbs. This one's not on the menu, which I thought was pretty sad, because I really liked it. It combines different textures and flavors of each ingredient! And it's presented really well, too!

Another dish we got to try was the Lengua Frita.
Arrozeria
You know how when you're a kid, you eat pretty much anything.. but when you grow up and find out what something really is, you don't want to eat it anymore? That's my exact relationship with lengua. To those who don't know, lengua is ox tongue. But you know what, ArroZeria's Lengua Frita is the bomb! It's soft and crunchy at the same time. The deep fried angus ox tongue coated in bechamel sauce perfectly combines with the tartar sauce served on the side.

Onto the main dish, the Paella del SeƱorito. I thought it was interesting that you can choose the consistency of your paella - pick al dente and thin or soft and wet. Personally, I might have gone with soft and wet, but after trying the al dente and thin, I'm not sure anymore.
Arrozeria
It wasn't as dry as I expected it to be, but the rice in the paella was semi-burnt on purpose (in Tagalog, tutong). According to ArroZeria, paella is culturally enjoyed al dente and served in a thin layer in Spain, while Asian versions tend to be soft and wet while still keeping the flavor of traditional paellas.

Their tagline "where rice is the hero" is very fitting since many of their dishes have rice as the main ingredient. ArroZeria actually makes use of local heirloom rice from Cordillera for their dishes. So with every order of paella, we're able to help out our local farmers too. I'm definitely coming back for their other paellas and risotto!

Thank you so much, ArroZeria, for the wonderful meal!
