Lucky Chick, UP Town Center

Lucky Chick
Lucky Chick opened in UP Town Center last December 22, 2015. It's the newest venture from the guys behind Nolita, The Bowery, L.E.S. Bagels, and Borough. It's in line with their New York theme, and this time, they're offering fried chicken.

Why fried chicken you ask? I mean it's one of the most common dishes out there. Almost every establishment has some sort of fried chicken offering. So why would you even go to Lucky Chick?
Lucky Chick
Well, Lucky Chick took upon the challenge of turning an ordinary dish into something you'll keep coming back for. For one, their chicken's huge. Second, they have three chicken flavors AND three kinds of gravy you can dip them into (more on this later!) Third, they have other dishes besides chicken (like Cajun Salmon and Slow Roasted Beef Belly which is one of their bestsellers). Finally, they have wifi and aircon, so if you want to stay cool while you do your school projects or group work, this is the place. Haha! But seriously, they have very hip interiors, so it's actually quite fitting that they opened up in UP Town Center, because it is near schools like Ateneo, Miriam, and of course, UP.

They even have a private room that's perfect for small meetings/gatherings. Check out the cool graffiti wall!
Lucky Chick
Anyway, enough about the place because I know you're all here for the food :P
Lucky Chick
As if normal fries isn't awesome enough, Lucky Chick created the Gravy Fries (P200)! It's their own version of poutine and is the perfect starter for your barkada hangouts!
Lucky Chick
They also have Jalapeno Poppers (P200), which, to tell you the truth, I avoided because I was told it's really HOT. I never really liked jalapeno, so I thought it best to skip this one. Sorryyy!Lucky Chick
Though I did enjoy their Lucky Chick Salad (P170), one of their healthier offerings. Just look at all that color! If all salads looked as lovely as this, I'd probably eat more of it!
Lucky Chick
Their Lucky Chick Salad comes with strips of chicken and loads of greens to keep you healthy and energized throughout the day ;)
Lucky Chick
For the chicken meals, you can order a Get Lucky Meal that comes with rice and iced tea for as low as P138. If you want to add a side dish to your meal, go for the Luckier Meal at P198 instead. Both meals mentioned come with one piece chicken. Though they also have two and four piece chicken meals available.

Here are just some of the options for the sides:
Lucky Chick
I highly recommend the corn muffins, mac and cheese, and garlic rice!

As I mentioned earlier, their chicken comes in three flavors - original, hot chick, and lemon & garlic! You can choose whichever chicken you want in your meals, plus of course, your choice of gravy. I like that they didn't stop at the chicken flavors but they took it a step further with these new gravy options! You can pick from original, honey, and apple cider gravy.
Lucky Chick
My favorite combination would have to be original chicken with honey gravy! It's sweeter than your usual gravy dip, while the apple cider is more sour.
Lucky Chick
To be honest, I thought the Hot Chick was good enough to eat on its own. There's no need for gravy with this one, seriously. But if you really want to dip it in something, the best gravy for it would be the original.
Lucky Chick
Unfortunately, the Lemon and Garlic chicken wasn't available at the time. I think it might turn out to be my favorite, I'll update this post once I get a chance to try it.

Spaghetti and Meatballs (P180)
Lucky Chick
I really liked their version of spaghetti and meatballs because it's not too sweet. Filipino spaghetti always has to be sweet, and this one contains lots of real tomatoes, so it reminded me more of Italian pasta, which I just love.

Cream Dory Fillet (P220)
Lucky Chick
I don't normally order fish when I'm out, but I'm willing to make an exception with this one. Their dory fillet crisp on the outside, but soft and creamy on the inside. Dip it in both sauces or none at all, I swear it's still delicious. Even the fries deserve some praise because it wasn't soggy at all, and it was seasoned with just the right amount of salt that will keep you wanting more. I didn't want to pass the plate to anybody once I got a taste of it. True story!

Pulled Pork Sandwich (P200)
Lucky Chick
If sandwiches are your thing, try this out. It's different from other burgers/sandwiches, because the sauce is served on the side so you can control how much to put in. I thought the pork was very soft, considering it was already cold when I tried it. Also available: Grilled Cheese, Fish Fillet, and Roast Beef sandwiches.

Finally, my favorite part of any meal - dessert!
We got to try their special Pecan Pie (P200)
Lucky Chick
In all honesty, this was my first time trying pecan pi so I really have no standard for it. Two things I know for sure though - it wasn't overly sweet and it contained a generous amount of pecans! It wasn't my favorite, then again, I haven't had lots of pies in my lifetime, but it's a heavy dessert that I can imagine someone stuffing their faces with when they are sad, especially after a break up. I don't know why exactly, but pies have that vibe for me. It's a type of comfort dessert, if there's even such a thing.

Last but not the least, here's the Ice Cream Sandwich (P150)
Lucky Chick
Can I just say that I was over the moon happy with this??? The ice cream used was vanilla and it was store bought, but the COOKIES.. Guys, the cookies were AMAZING. These are the type of cookies I'd totally buy boxes of. They are chunky and chewy, like Chips Ahoy, only better. The ice cream just complemented them really well (plus with the weather today), this one just takes the cake for being one of the best desserts to cap the night with! I'm glad they stuck with something simple and executed it really well. Don't you guys dare take this off the menu. Ever.

Lucky Chick is located at the second floor of UP Town Center, Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City.
