Pizza fanatic equals ME! -- So just imagine my excitement when I got an invite from Zomato to join their #FoodieMeetup at Peperoni Pizzeria! ;)
Thin crust, wood fired pizza - that's what Peperoni Pizzeria is famous for. But they’re not limited to just that. Their menu offers the whole shebang - soups, salads, pasta, gelato and everything in between, plus a wide range of beverage options to choose from.
It is the first restaurant from the Les Amis group to reach the Philippines. Pepperoni Pizzeria has actually been around since 2004, but it was only two months ago that they opened their first branch in Uptown Place Mall - all thanks to CMG Philippines - one of the largest shoe retailers in the country.
We started with the Fungi Portobello con Pollo, which is deep fried whole portobello with sautéed chicken fillets in red wine sauce. What I loved about this is that the breading actually adds to the flavour of the entire dish. Even without the chicken and the sauce, it still would’ve tasted great. But it’s even better with the red wine sauce; it is not overpowering and complemented both the mushroom and chicken well. The serving is large enough to share, but you can totally finish it on your own, like I did (what can I say, I love mushrooms!)
Next, we had the Alle Vongole Pasta - venus clams in white wine sauce. To tell you the truth, I was initially disappointed that they choose this out of their fourteen pasta offerings. My past experiences with vongole hasn’t exactly been amazing, but to my surprise, this was actually really good. Some might be turned off with its consistency (being that there was too much sauce), but I honestly like it better that way. It felt like I was eating noodle soup (which isn’t a bad thing at all, I love saucy dishes), plus the flavour was just right. Another thing to mention is that the dish had four clams, which is more than what other Italian restaurants would probably serve. Their pasta dishes are also customizable - meaning you can choose which pasta noodle you want for your dish!
For the pizzas, we got to try five out of fifteen special pizza flavours namely: the Prosciutto Crudo Di Parma (parma ham and rocket salad), Quattro Formaggi (mozzarella, taleggio, scamorza, and gorgonzola), Diavola (pepperoni), Bacon Miele (bacon, honey, fresh oregano, and gouda cheese), and Pancetta (cured bacon, sliced tomatoes, and soft egg). My favourites would have to be the Prosciutto Crudo followed by the Bacon Miele, and Pancetta, in that order. I’ll always have a special place for four cheese and pepperoni pizzas, it’s just that, they’re really common nowadays. I just love getting to try all sorts of new food combinations and I found that in my top three. If you’re a bit iffy on ordering an XXL pizza with just one flavour in it, worry not because you can actually get 2 flavours in one large or XXL pizza. ;)

Fun fact: Peperoni Pizzeria has one price for their pizzas. The 9” (medium) is P395, the 12” (large) is P565, and the 21” (XXL) is P1250. For me, this is a huge deal because let’s face it, sometimes when we eat out, we can’t help but base our orders on the prices of the menu items.. the cheaper, the better. At least here, price is not going to be an issue. It’s just a matter of how badly you want to stuff your faces in pizza (you can’t go wrong with the 21” or the XXL). Whatever flavour you order, the price will be the same.
Remember, at Peperoni, "all we knead is love!"
