Happy Lulu

Happy Lulu
It's not so happy at Happy Lulu after all.

We arrived at 1pm, and since the restaurant was full, we had to wait outside. Good thing I suggested that we placed our orders in advance, because the service there was just the worst! For one, it took a while to get someone's attention just for a menu. After a few minutes of looking through it, we placed our orders. When we finally got a table (maybe ten minutes later), it took them another ten minutes to clean it up - and yes, we called for service numerous times. By 2pm, we had already finished eating everything, except for the soup which still hasn't arrived. We kept following it up; new customers came and went. In the end, we asked them to just cancel the order; they told us it was almost ready. Almost, seriously, after forty minutes? We weren't exactly in the mood for soup anymore.

Good service, for me, is as important as the quality of the food. It doesn't matter if your food is superb, if the waiting time/service is terrible, forget it. With that said, I don't think I'll be eating here again soon.

Not the most appetizing photo I know - I just included this so you know what's underneath all that sauce.

Note: We liked the Beef Tomato more than the Happy Lulu Rice.

Pan Fried Squid (P220)

When I see some version of fried squid on the menu, I just have to order it. Their vinegar kind of tasted watered down though.

Crispy Shrimp (P220)
deep fried shrimp with spices and house vinegar

If you're still interested in trying them out, Happy Lulu is located at 19 Ubay Street, Quezon City (near Retiro). I hope your experience turns out better than ours. Don't say I didn't warn you!
