Va Bene Pasta Deli

Va Bene Pasta Deli
An authentic Italian restaurant at a gas station? Count me in!

“We did not want to open just another fine dining Italian restaurant as there are already too many around. We wanted to offer our guests something unique and authentic. Where we could instill what we believe authentic Italian food should be. Then we decided to open VA BENE PASTA DELI – the only Italian restaurant in the Philippines who serves all fresh pastas! No boxed pastas here!” VA BENE PASTA DELI then opened its doors last summer of 2010. A cozy Italian deli restaurant where you could have a taste of the real thing. From  fresh pastas like fettuccine, tagliolini, papardelle which they offer in different flavors, to their pasta sauces which they prepare a la minute for you, or their pizza altaglio which would bring you to the streets of Italy with just one bite, to their fresh cannellonis, fresh raviolis, gnocchi and a whole lot more, VA BENE PASTA DELI IS DEFINITELY THE RIGHT CHOICE! May it be for dine-in, delivery, take away, or catering, we guarantee authentic, affordable, and 5 star quality Italian food!

Va Bene Pasta Deli is owned by Chef Massimo Veronesi, who has 20 years of experience working in the hotel industry, and his wife, Carolyn Veronesi. (Read more about their amazing story)

Va Bene already has two branches to date - one in Petron Station in Dasmarinas Village and the other in Bonifacio Global City. They are a straightforward, no frills, no gimmicks, authentic Italian restaurant (a great one at that). If you're like me and you're into the real kind of pasta (the not-sweet-but-kinda-sour-sauce kind), then this is the place for you. I honestly don't understand why in some restaurants when I ask, "Maasim ba yung sauce nito?" (is the sauce for this sour?) they proudly answer me back saying "Ay Ma'am, hindi po!" (No, Ma'am, it's not!) when the sauce should really be maasim to begin with. I guess most Filipinos like their sauces sweeter?

Anyway, we visited Va Bene one Saturday lunch. The place is small; they have fewer than ten tables, I think. We were the first customers that day, but it didn't take long for other people to start coming in. Aside from us, there were Koreans and an Italian family who came to dine! That's how you know a place is legit, when people from that place actually eat your food.

Va Bene Pasta Deli
The most filling plate of meatballs ever! Delizioso!

Lobster and Prawns Capellaci (P590)
ravioli, lobster bisque sauce

It doesn't look appetizing from this angle, but it's actually really good! The sauce was a bit watered down than expected (since bisque is supposed to be creamy), but I still loved this!

We enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back to try their other dishes soon! It's not everyday you get to eat at an authentic Italian restaurant. I hope they open another branch somewhere north in the near future. *crosses fingers*
