Surprise, surprise - it's not just a cafe!
Healthy Day in Banawe Avenue is actually a cafe, a restaurant, and a nail spa - all in one place!
When you enter their establishment, the first thing that you'll see is the cafe area. Here, they offer all sorts of coffee, teas, snacks, and desserts, with a few added extras like healthy juices and chilled taho.
Within the café is located a bigger dining area that serves as their restaurant. Healthy Day offers semi-fine dining treats that you and your family will surely love. I got to try three of their best-selling dishes and can’t wait to go back for more!
Their dishes may seem expensive at first, but since they're good for sharing, I think the prices are just about right. Every dish is beautifully laid out and plated, making you feel like you’re at a luxury hotel somewhere! This semi-fine dining experience is what the people behind Healthy Day – Abigail and Jeffrey - aim for. According to their manager, JR, the owners started this establishment as sort of an extension of public service. Being that they’re both doctors, they know that the food offered in hospitals aren't created depending on each patient's condition - they're pretty much the same for everyone and most of the time, they're not exactly appetizing, either. So what they did is to create dishes that are both healthy and scrumptious to show that people don't have to sacrifice taste for health; we can enjoy eating delicious and flavorful food without feeling guilty.
They also offer diet/meal plans that are customized based on your BMI and blood work. Unlike other meal plans that are the same for everyone weekly, theirs are specially made for you so that you get the most for your money. They have their own dietitian; and if the food they provide their diet plan clients are the same as the ones they offer in their restaurant, then you’re sure to have a yummy week ahead.
Healthy Day Iced Tea (P70)
Passion fruit pomegranate tea with pomegranate syrup
the goodness and freshness of lettuce, cucumber, crab stick, and coleslaw rolled into one healthy delight
I found the Kani Rolls quite refreshing. The description on the menu is on point - the vegetables are fresh, and everything in it just goes well together - one healthy delight, indeed. It's also a great way to get your kids to eat veggies. I normally steer clear of veggie-filled dishes (haha), but I really enjoyed this one. ;)
As I mentioned earlier, their menu items are best shared, as you can probably tell from the photos. I wish they offered solo/rice meals though, so they can cater to those coming into their restaurant alone, as well. I was lucky that two of my friends from high school happened to be there at the time, so we got to sample the dishes together.
Dill Crusted Salmon with Carrot Potato Mash (P560)
Served with three scoops of mashed potato - this dish is seriously huge! I shared it with two guys, and still, we weren't able to finish it! Haha. I like how the crust adds texture to the soft, almost melt-in-your-mouth salmon. The dill sauce complements the subtle flavor of the fish well.
Chicken Salpicao with Garlic Brown Rice (P360)
chicken tender cubes sautéed in garlic and olive oil served with garlic brown rice
A comfort food option I'd totally recommend. This chicken salpicao is packed with not only flavor, but toppings as well! Just take a look at it!
Cucumber Mango Souffle (P200)
oreo lava, cheesecake, oatmeal with tablea, cucumbers, and mangoes
I like each of these ingredients, but never in a million years would I think of putting all of them together. The fact that Healthy Day was able to pull this off deserves a two thumbs up. It's chewy on the outside, soft on the inside, and just crazy good! The flavor and texture was a pleasant surprise - we seem to have this impression that all desserts should be sweet, but this souffle proves that wrong. I love having desserts; it's pretty essential to my daily life, but I seriously have nothing to compare this to. They also have a strawberry counterpart for this which I'm dying to try! P.S. Their souffles aren't always available, so if you don't see it at the glass display, do request for it so the chef can make it for you (provided that the necessary ingredients are available)! :)

Green Delight (P140)
green apple, celery and green tea
One of their best selling healthy juices! Nowadays, people are investing more on their health. This is a good option if you're looking for a refreshing drink without the added sugar. Instead of ordering iced tea, you can go for this instead. They also have other options like the Go-go Juice, Immune Buster, Beauty Potion, Stress Buster, and another bestseller - the Healthy Day Wheatgrass Juice.
Thanks to Dean and Adrian for sharing the spontaneous afternoon with me! :)
Healthy Day is located at 739 Banawe Street, Quezon City :)
