I was so thrilled when I found out about this amazing new place that I just couldn't wait to tell you all about it! Located at 15 Visayas Avenue (right above Eastwest Bank), Chef Paul's is an all-day breakfast place that serves waffles with a twist! I'm drooling just thinking about all the food Mike and I got try during our visit, so I'm certain you guys will love it, too!
Just check out how they turned their old vinyl records into something new!
And the pages on the walls.. would you believe they're from really, really old song books? They add so much charm to the place. The whole setup makes me feel like I'm at an old school diner (less the booths).
When you've reached the end of the room, you'll find yourself in a totally different place.
The space is so cozy! I can see myself reading a book here in the future.
So much creativity went into decorating Chef Paul's - from old records hanging from the ceiling..
.. to old tires and vinyl covers used for coffee tables..
.. to walls painted with music icons (The Beatles and Eraserheads) by UP Fine Arts students.
Who wouldn't want to hang out in a place like this?
By the way, did you notice the guitars hanging on the walls? Well, you can actually borrow them for free!
Chef Paul and his dad are music lovers, hence the whole music/rock theme! Board games like Monopoly and Clue are available at no additional charge as well. They're also planning to set up a television and an Xbox soon, so watch out for that (like their Facebook page for updates!) O diba, hang out kung hang out! :)
During our visit, we got to meet Cai, his sister, who's super nice and extremely easy to talk to. She manages Chef Paul's in Visayas Avenue while her brother takes care of the newly opened The Street Cafe by Chef Paul's in Taytay!
P.S. Did I mention that Chef Paul is only 23 years old? Grabeee.
Finally, the food! With Cai's recommendation, I tried the Nutella Almond waffle. If you're just looking for something light, then I suggest you go for their dessert waffles. You can choose from Mocha, Strawberry, Peanut Butter, White Chocolate, Blueberry Cream Cheese, and more! I actually came back the following day and tried their Cinnamon Peanut Butter waffle. Both combinations go well together, but if you ask which one I liked better, it's the Nutella Almond. :)
Mike had the Spam and Egg waffle sandwich, which he surprisingly had a hard time finishing. The slightly sweet waffle compliments the saltiness of the spam, which also goes well with the eggs and mayo. Definitely something I'd order if I'm feeling really hungry. But if you don't like spam, then go for bacon, sausages or ham instead. (But seriously, who doesn't like spam?) We also shared a tall mug of iced Choco Caramel Frappe - two of my favorite flavors put together! It's a refreshing drink; tastes like Milo, but better. Haha :)
When our friend JJ arrived,we had him try the Mexican Beef omelette with French toast waffles.
He liked it so much that he went back the following day to order one for his girlfriend. I've actually been craving for it since. It's a definite must-try for those who love spicy food.
Thank you so much to Cai and Chef Paul for having us over! We'll definitely be back soon! :)
