Kam's Roast, Mega Fashion Hall

Michelin-starred restaurant Kam's Roast is now in Manila!

When news broke out that Kam's Roast was opening in Manila, people went wild. But not me. I wasn't familiar with the restaurant, to be honest. Though I've been to Hong Kong a number of times already, I have never been to Kam's Roast, so I was like, "Another franchise. Meh okay."
All that changed when I finally got to try the restaurant this weekend. Grabe. I absolutely loved every single thing they brought out from the kitchen! From something as simple as Marinated Cucumbers and Jellyfish with Sesame Oil to their specialty meats like Roasted Duck, Suckling Pig, Soya Chicken, and BBQ Pork! Everything honestly brought a smile to my face.
Kam's Roast just opened its first branch at the Mega Fashion Hall in May, making the Hong Kong institution much closer and making it so much easier for Filipinos to get their famous roasts. It was this weekend that FOODEE Global Concepts celebrated its blessing and grand opening with impressive festivities and guests of honor Hon. Loren B. Legarda and Carol T. Sy of SM Supermalls.

Kam's Roast is an Internationally-acclaimed and Michelin-starred restaurant hailing from Hong Kong. Coming from the family behind Yung Kee Restaurant with a culinary heritage that spans 75 years, comes third generation Hardy Kam, who founded Kam's Roast Goose. Together with Robert Chua, a prominent TV and movie producer in Hong Kong with a proven track record in spotting successful food concepts, they are letting the whole world experience the distinct flavors of traditional recipes that have been passed on from one generation to the next.

Roast Sucking Pig
Plate: Php 800 | Half: Php 3200 | Whole: Php 6000

Tender, crispy, and full of flavor. A definite highlight to any celebration or meal.

Roast Duck
Upper 1/4: Php 750 | Lower 1/4: Php 900 | Half Php 1500 | Whole Php 2800

I don't think I've ever had duck like this. I'm more familiar with it being served two ways - first, with duck skin wrapped in Chinese pancakes with spring onions and hoisin sauce; and the second, minced in a lettuce wrap. Compared to Peking Duck, I can definitely say I enjoyed eating the Roast Duck more since you really get to taste and appreciate the flavors of the duck on its own.

BBQ Pork (Char Siu) and BBQ Pork Belly (Toro Char Siu)

For those who want the best of both worlds, here is Kam's Roast's Char Siu and Toro Char Siu plate (priced at Php 900). These can also be ordered separately, with the Char Siu at Php 600/plate and Toro Char Siu at Php 700/plate. Between the two, I'd have to recommend the Toro Char Siu since I loved its sweet-smokey flavor and the fact that it has more fat to it. Hihi.

Soya Chicken
Half: Php 500 | Whole Php 980
Another one of my favorites! I swear, everything was cooked perfectly despite it being (1) lunch time and (2) a holiday. The soya chicken may already be delicious as is, but the ginger sauce they serve it with takes it up a notch, so make sure to try it! P.S. Good job to the kitchen for being able to manage the craziness!

Crispy Roast Pork
Php 700

This one was SOOO GOOD! I couldn't hold back my ooh's and ahh's as I took bites of this baby! I was surprised that they serve it with mustard, being it a Chinese restaurant and all, but it works. If you're a fan of mustard (which I am), I guarantee you'll like this one. ;)

I swear I haven't been this happy with a restaurant in a long time! Unfortunately, they don't offer goose due to import restrictions, but I really enjoyed all the dishes they served us and I would totally go back for them. This is officially my favorite out of all the restaurants that FOODEE Global Concepts has brought in to the Philippines.
