Rock and Seoul, SM North The Block

A look back at Rock and Seoul's new menu launch!

Recently, I joined The Food Crawlers at Rock and Seoul SM North The Block's new menu launch. Admittedly, it was my first time there, so I really wasn't sure what to expect. I just knew that they offered Korean food, because of the word "Seoul" in their name, but that's that.

It was a full house that evening - lifestyle bloggers and foodies came together to try out their newest items. I guess that just says something about their food; if all these people came to support the launch, then their regular menu items must be good too! Since Rock and Seoul is just located at SM North Edsa, I'll probably pay them another visit to try out their other stuff soon.

We started off with the Lychee Yakult. It's tastes more of lychee than yakult, but I'm not complaining! My only issue is that if you leave it for too long, the powder separates from the rest of the drink, so I guess they don't use real lychees/yakult for their drinks? Anyhoo, it's not really a big deal, you just have to mix it from time to time. The drink really good and really refreshing (I had two glasses of this).

Everyone was served with a set meal that consisted of their Big Boy LA Ribs on top of their Original Bibimbap, Crispy Chicken Melt, Ramyeon, and some fruits.

What kind of Korean restaurant would this be if they didn't have unlimited banchan?? I devoured our table's fish cakes and kimchi (had them refilled too hihi)

This is Rock and Seoul's tribute to Los Angeles, where Korean-Americans have made the city's food scecne hip, happening, and all kinds of delicious. Their creativity fuels the most exciting food trucks and they come up with the tastiest mash-ups of traditional dishes and modern flavor profiles.

Succulent beef ribs are sliced thinly across the bone, allowing the marinade to reach deep into the meat.

You can order it alone or with their Classic Original Bibimbap, which is made up of minced beef, sunny side up egg, sautéed vegetables, some gochujang, and spicy kimchi butter on top of a sizzling deep plate. Mix it all up and you're ready to eat!

Next seem to have been everyone's favorite, the Crispy Chicken Melt

It's Korean fried chicken smothered in their signature cheese sauce with torched cheddar cheese on top!

The Ramyeon was my least favorite that evening. What was supposed to be a rich broth ended up being too watered down. It was a good thing they topped it with generous servings of sirloin beef, squid, seaweed, corn, and egg, otherwise it would have been a more disappointing dish.

For dessert, they brought out their Charcoal Waffles that comes with a scoop of either green tea or vanilla ice cream and lots and lots of sprinkles, popcorn, marshmallow, and wafers! Personally, I thought the waffles had a weird texture, but I still ate most of it because I wanted something to go with the ice cream.

Overall, I think some of the dishes still need improvement, but I'd gladly go back to try out their other offerings.
