Kos Greek Ouzeri, UP Town Center

Kos Greek Ouzeri - probably the most underrated restaurant in UPTC. Go try something new today!

Sometime last year, my foodie friends and I found ourselves at Kos Greek Ouzeri. To be honest, I often find myself at UPTC, but I've never been to Kos. I don't know. I guess Greek cuisine has never been top of mind for me. I usually go for Japanese or Italian cuisine, sometimes American or Filipino, but never Greek. This restaurant changed it all for me.

We started off with their Sampler of Five Dips that comes with unlimited bread.
Melitzanosalata - roasted eggplant with garlic, white wine vinegar, olive oil, and lemon juice
Tzatziki - yogurt cucumber dip flavored with garlic, dill, olive oil, and lemon juice
Hummus - mashed cooked chickpeas blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, and garlic
Artichoke Spinach Spread - mixed artichoke, spinach, and cheese dip
Roasted Cauliflower and Garlic Spread - blended cauliflower and garlic with mixed herbs and spices
Kos Greek Ouzeri
My favorite? Hands down, the Melitzanosalata!

Kos Salata
mixed greens with sundried tomatoes, dried figs caramelized nuts, cheese, and grapes tossed with honey-grape vinaigrette
Kos Greek Ouzeri
Bourou-Bourou
vegetable soup with pasta and croutons
Kos Greek Ouzeri
This one is a meal on its own. It's light and hearty; in a way, it is like spaghetti, but with more sauce rather than noodles. It is a two-in-one dish (pasta and soup) that I wouldn't mind having again. Dip in some breads too if you like!

Pastitsio
layered tube pasta with meat and tomato sauce topped with bechamel sauce
Kos Greek Ouzeri
This one reminds me of Sbarro's Baked Ziti, where you can combined both white sauce and red sauce together. I love that they don't scrimp out on the sauces, so you can scoop up as much as you want in every bite.

Arni Me Kritharkia
lamb meatballs served with orzo pasta cooked in tomato sauce
Kos Greek Ouzeri
I don't normally go for lamb, but their meatballs were quite tasty. It doesn't have that strong aftertaste plus I really liked the richness of the tomato base and the orzo pasta used in this dish.

Lamb Fricasse
lamb cubes braised with white onion, ouzo, leeks, lettuce, and potatoes
Kos Greek Ouzeri
Another lamb dish that you probably haven't tried before. I would recommend it you order it with the Spanakorizo.

Spanakorizo
rice cooked with onions, spinach, feta cheese, and herbs
Kos Greek Ouzeri
And last, but certainly not the least, the Chicken Souvlaki.

Chicken Souvlaki
skewer meat served with roasted vegetables, yogurt, and garlic sauce, and red bell pepper sauce
Kos Greek Ouzeri
This one was everyone's favorite, including mine! It was tender, juicy, and flavorful, even without the sauces!
Kos Greek Ouzeri
Overall, I highly recommend dining at Kos Greek Ouzeri. Visit them at the ground floor of UP Town Center!
