A few weeks ago, I joined De'Longhi for their Christmas Cooking/Coffee Workshop at the Concept Specialist Inc. Showroom in Quezon City. To be honest, I was apprehensive at first. I mean, I have very little knowledge when it comes to cooking (I'd rather bake), so being in a kitchen with other people - not to mention Celebrity Chef Mitchie Sison - kind of scared me. I'm glad I took the leap though, because as it turns out, cooking isn't as complicated as I imagine it to be - especially with the help of the De'Longhi Multifry!

Thanks to this machine, we were able to make Queso de Bola Muffins and Embutido in just under an hour! Just imagine, two very different things, easily prepared by one multifry! No muss, no fuss!

We also made Affogato, Salted Caramel Gelato, and Christmas coffee drinks such as Toffee Nut and Peppermint Latte using other De'Longhi machines!

Before anything else though, here's a quick look at the showroom and all the cool coffee machines you can purchase for your own home.

Once everyone has settled in, Chef Mitchie Sison introduced the star of the workshop: the De'Longhi Multifry!

After hearing about what the machine can do, I couldn't wait to stand up and get my hands dirty! It was really easy because all we had to do was mix the ingredients in a bowl, transfer them in cups, then put them inside the multifry! In fact, it's so easy, even a child can do it!

The De'Longhi Multifry can be used to steam, boil, sauté, fry, and more! In fact, Chef Mitchie told us that they successfully made wings, cakes, and even risotto with it!

The De'Longhi Multifry also comes with a manual timer, so you can set how long you want your food to cook for. Plus, with the paddle attachment and surround heat system, you no longer have to watch over your food, flipping it every so often, since the multifry pretty much does everything for you! Like I said, easy peasy!

We set the timer for twenty minutes then headed over to the coffee bar where Mike Canlas was waiting for us. There, he showed us what an industrial-type coffee machine can do.

According to him, the most important part of an espresso is the crema, the thin layer of foam at the top of the cup. It is also considered to be the "holy grail" in the espresso world since everyone measures their techniques, equipment, and coffee by it.

If you'll notice, there are different layers to espresso. Mike told us that a good shot of espresso has three visible parts - emulsion, suspension, and solution. It quickly dissipates, but you can still see some of it here.

Another thing - professional machines can produce thick, dense foamy milk with a marshmallow-like consistency - which you then put on top of your cappuccino.

In fact, when your foam is really dense, you can place a teaspoon on top of it and it won't sink, as you can see below.

As it turns out, the De'Longhi Dedica Pump Espresso can make the same drink with the same quality - at a much lower cost. Plus, it's really easy to use!

As you can see, it was able to produce the three parts I mentioned earlier (emulsion, suspension, and solution).

We then recreated the foamy milk that I'm sure we all love and look for when we go to cafes.

We also tried floating the teaspoon on the foam, and it was a success! It just shows how powerful this small machine can be. And it's the perfect size for home use!

Twenty minutes passed and our Queso de Bola Muffins were ready to be eaten - but not before everyone took photos. Haha!

The Embutido was next on our list, and it took five, maybe ten minutes to prepare. We mixes the ingredients, wrapped it in foil, then placed them in the multifry! It was so quick to do, and the results were delicious!

Finally, it was time to make dessert - my favorite part!

With the De'Longhi Il Gelataio, you can make your own gelato at home. You no longer have to go out and purchase one small cup for Php 150. It has a built-in compressor for a constant low temperature, so you get that perfect consistency every time.

I highly recommend it for birthdays, family gatherings, or you can even turn it into a small business! Just imagine all the ice cream flavors you can create with this amazing machine!

I already know what I'm wishing for this Christmas! Haha!
