Movie Review: Now You See Me 2

I don’t write movie reviews often, it’s usually just for movies that I really enjoyed. Personally, I thought Now You See Me 2 was great. A number of my Facebook friends posted about how the first one was so much better, but isn’t that always the case though? I didn’t bother comparing it, but that’s mostly because I no longer remember the first one. Haha! Jack Wilder (Dave Franco) is still my favorite character – he is so handsome and so suave in everything he does. I didn’t like Lula May though. I know she adds humor to the movie, but I didn’t feel like it was necessary. Parang nakakagulo lang siya. Plus, Lula and Jack DO NOT make a cute couple. It was pretty obvious from the very beginning that she liked him. Sure, she's good at what she does, but I still do not like her.
For me, Now You See Me 2 is a show. The main story wasn’t as important - as long as they resulted to amazing acts, that was fine. And I loved it all, especially when they explained how they did it. My favorite scene has to be the part where it was raining and Atlas got the droplets to move whichever way he wanted. It was all a trick, of course, and he revealed it to everyone. But still, I would have loved to be there and experience that myself!
It was pretty cool, too, how they slid down the pipes during their escape from Octa and ended up in Macau (of course, that was all a trick too). I didn’t like Daniel Radcliffe as the villain though. I don’t know, I guess he’ll always be Harry Potter to me (even though I didn’t actually watch the HP series haha).
Final thoughts - I wish they ended the movie after the plane scene. During the huge finale, I wanted to stand up and clap (because it was that amazing), but my amazement dissolved when they went to the observatory and Morgan Freeman just kept talking and talking. It just felt blah. Oh, another thing I thought was bad – some of the scenes were just too dark and too fast that you couldn’t really understand what was happening anymore.

But yeah, overall, it’s a good movie. I wouldn’t mind it if they came out with another sequel.
